In an era when some churches feel pressed to abandon worship components that hold tremendous beauty and power for countless people — believers and seekers alike — Morningside Presbyterian Church (MPC) prefers to walk the fine line of traditional services flexible enough to accommodate fresh expressions of giving glory to God. If you grew up Presbyterian, you will definitely feel at home. Everyone else — including those who haven’t been churchgoers — will find ample points of connection with the Holy.

Sunday worship always includes

  • Beautiful music — a broad repertoire for choir, organ, and congregational singing

  • Rich liturgy — ancient rituals and original litanies, carefully crafted language and prayerful silence

  • Powerful preaching — attentive to Scripture, the needs of the congregation, the challenges of the world

  • Intergenerational involvement — Children’s Time, lay readers, youth participation

  • The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, and the Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated often due to our growing congregation

  • Liturgical seasons are expressed through visual arts as well as music and liturgy

  • Livestreamed services every Sunday available on our YouTube channel

Seasonal services include

  • Two services on Christmas Eve, an early child-friendly service and a later candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols

  • Ash Wednesday service

  • Maundy Thursday potluck suppers with communion in members’ homes

  • Good Friday service, often shared with other churches

  • Two services on Easter Sunday

  • During the year, we also gather for a Service of Healing and Wholeness, and MPC’s beloved Moravian Love Feast service

  • Special events such as Blessing of the Pets and Blessing of the Backpacks round out our worship life
