MPC will honor the spiritual practice of Advent giving by collecting food for ICM. We will collect canned goods and other non-perishable foods during worship each Sunday from December 17 - 24. We encourage the children and families to come forward during the service and place their items in a basket under the Chrismon tree. A barrel will be placed in the stairwell for larger items and mid-week donations.  ICM serves food to homeless and food-insecure neighbors in the 30306 and 30307 neighborhoods each Saturday from McIver Hall at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church. MPC participates every other month on the secondSaturday. If you have volunteered in the past, feel free to arrive as late as 10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at McIver Hall beside Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, 1026 Ponce de Leon Ave, 30306. Please contact Laura Ulep or Nancy Collins 678.634.4572 if you are interested in helping.
Our music ministry will be adding handbell players starting January. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. starting Thursday, January 4. The handbells play during worship service every six weeks. Please reach out to Jeff Peters or Jack Klotz to be a part of Morningside's handbell music ministry.
Once again this year Morningside is providing volunteers at Shearith Israel's Women's Shelter, Rebecca's Tent., as part of our mission outreach program.  Volunteers serve from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. warming up the dinner meal (provided by other volunteers) and serving in paper plates as the women arrive from their daily work or job searches.  The kitchen is cleaned up before leaving. The dates that we have committed to provide volunteers are: Wednesday, January 10 - Sunday, 14 and Wednesday, February 7 - Sunday, 11.  If you can help on any of these dates, please sign up by posting your name/e-mail address on the Mission Board at church.  You will receive a reminder about a week prior to your commitment indicating who is working with you, the SI street address, etc.  Men are welcome to serve also. If you have any questions, please e-mail Phyllis GrimesAlso, we will be collecting $10 gift cards (Walmart, McDonald's) for Valentine gifts for the homeless women in January.
We are still in need of two more ushers for the 11 am Christmas Eve service.  Can you please send out a plea via the weekly blast and also announce it this Sunday's service?  Anyone willing can contact Robin Hackney.
