Faith Development
Anna Miles continues the discussion of faith and film, exploring how Jesus-films and Christ-figure films tell the Gospel story and questioning what is at stake when changes are made from the Bible to the film reel.

Parenting Class and Grades 1-5 will celebrate the beginning of Advent with a joint activity to prepare for celebrating the season.  Join us in Room 201 to make Advent Wreaths to and to talk about simple ways to celebrate Love, Hope, Peace and Joy each week as we awaiting the birth of Jesus bringing all these things anew to your world through Christmas.  Parents of all ages are welcome.  Reserve your wreath form with Mardee.

Grades 6-12
Youth will continue to read and explore the lectionary text.

MPC member and actor Joe Knezevich has helped us secure group rate tickets to the Saturday, December 16 matinee to see Christmas Carol at 2:30 p.m. at the Cobb Performing Arts Center. These mezzanine seats are $40 for children under 12 and $50 for adults. Turn in checks to Melinda Sandkam by Thursday, November 30 or contact her with questions.
We have been invited to attend shabbat services at Shearith Israel Synagogue on Saturday, December 2, at 9 a.m.  A former resident of Rebecca's Tent (women's shelter) will speak at 9:30 a.m.  Taasho Wesley, director of Rebecca's Tent, says that it's all right to arrive at 9:30 a.m.  The service beginning at 9:00 a.m. will be in Hebrew.
Pour a cup of holiday cheer at this year's LGBT & Friends Holiday Party on Sunday, December 3 at 1:00 p.m. Cindy and Bill Humphries are graciously hosting this year's gathering once again, 1881 Dayron Trace, Marietta, Georgia 30062. Theology on Tap will be hosted by Bill Means on Tuesday, December 5, at 7 p.m. Bill and Sanda can be found at 1071 McLynn Avenue, Atlanta, 30306. The topic of discussion will be "Am I a Heretic?" Please RSVP to the church office.
Come support MPC's Handbell Choir, featured in this year's Holiday Concert Celebration with the Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus. Our choir will be playing several Christmas classics including "Go Tell It on the Mountain" and "Silver Bells." Performances are at The Cathedral of St. Philip on Friday, December 8 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 9 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are available here
We are in need of volunteers Saturday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Intown Collaborative Ministries to distribute non perishable food items to homeless and food-insecure neighbors in our area. If you have volunteered in the past, feel free to arrive as late as 10:30 a.m. since you know the routine. The pantry is located at McIver Hall beside Druid Hills Presbyterian Church, 1026 Ponce de Leon Ave, 30306. Please contact Laura Ulep or Nancy Collins 678.634.4572 if you are interested in helping.
The time for Morningside's famous Chili Cook-off Competition will be here Sunday, December 10 at 6 p.m. immediately following the children's Christmas Pageant.
