Faith Development
The class will explore contemporary hymns and the writers who composed them, looking at how our congregational song has evolved into expressions of our faith and practice during our own lifetimes (1950-today).
Parenting Group will discuss the curriculum for children which will be led by Mardee Rightmyer.
Grades 1-5
This Sunday, children will learn about Samuel's call to be Prophet.

PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE
In response to Hurricane Harvey, Irma, Maria and the earthquakes in Mexico, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is organizing a response to help those affected and restore hope. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is the emergency response and refugee program of the denomination, committed to the long-term journey of recovery of communities adversely affected by a crisis or catastrophic event. BIENFAIT NEEDS WORK
Through no fault of his own, Bienfait is in great need of a new job and any work on the weekends he can get. He is a painter and carpenter and can do many other construction-related work. If anyone as a connection to a full time job or has work at their own home he can do, please contact  Holly Campbell or Sandy Ryan.
 
WANTED: CHILDREN SINGING
You've heard the joyful sounds of our Treble Choir a few Sunday's ago. It's not too late to get your children singing with the Cherub (5, 6, 7 years old's) and Treble Choirs (2nd-5th grade). Check out the MPC Children's Choir webpage for dates and information, or contact Jonathan Crutchfield.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR OCTOBER 8
Please plan to stay after service on Sunday, October 8 for the presentation of Morningside's 3 year Strategic Plan, 2018-2020. The presentation will include insights and learnings from the congregational survey and will share prioritized initiatives identified from congregational input throughout the past months. The presentation will immediately follow the 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. services.
 
MPC COUPLES
Susan and Tom Oder are hosting MPC Couples on Friday, October 13at their home (1334 Old Johnson Ferry Rd. NE, Atlanta 30319). The main course will be lasagna, and you are welcome to bring salad, bread, green vegetables, an appetizer or a dessert. Please RSVP to Susan and Tom Oder.
 
ICM UPDATE
Great News! MPC Youth will fill our 12 volunteer slots on Saturday, October 14. MPC's next scheduled food pantry date is Saturday, December 9. More details will follow as we get closer to that date. 
 
UPCOMING MUSIC EVENTS
Saturday, October 28 at 7 p.m: Reformation Concert at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. A Free-will offering will be taken. MPC's Chancel Choir is participating. 
November 5 at 11 a.m: The Chancel Choir presents John Rutter's "Requiem" as part of the All Saints Sunday service. Join us for both of these events.
