The Shepherd's Story: The first people to hear the announcement of Jesus' birth were the shepherds. Shepherds lived a difficult life, spending much of their time outside watching over the herd to protect it. God's choice of the shepherds as the first recipients of the wonderful news of the birth of God's Son sends a clear message that this good news is for everyone.

SERVICE OF HEALING AND HOPE
Transitioning into the New Year can be quite a bit of fun, but for those experiencing bereavement, job loss, the breakup of a loving relationship - this time can be tough. Morningside will offer our traditional Service of Healing and Hope on Sunday, January 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. The darkness of the sanctuary provides a comforting place to receive prayers of healing and hope and, for those who wish, the laying on of hands by pastors, elders and deacons. If you are in need of healing and hope please come.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone's face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions. I must trust that the little bit of love that I sow now will bear many fruits, here in this world and the life to come.
