Joseph's Story: Like Mary, Joseph is a model of faith for us. The visit of the angel to Joseph shows us God's divine intervention. The angel reveals Mary's situation to Joseph and instructs Joseph to call the newborn child Jesus. The visit gives Joseph some peace, and he, like Mary, accepts the role he is to play in Jesus' life.

PLEDGES
Please consider donated appreciated securities (stocks and bonds).  Generally, this results in favorable tax treatment.  Also, if you have reached age 70 1/2, remember that contributions from a pre-tax 401(k) or IRA are also tax advantaged.  Consult your tax advisor for definitive advice.  If you choose to contribute in this manner, please contact our church treasurer, Bill Humphries, for transaction instructions: bill48@bellsouth.net or 770.565.8490.

MAKE YOUR PLEDGE TODAY
Home is where the heart is, the saying goes. Morningside Presbyterian Church is home to some 500 members, and throughout Commitment Season so many of our members have let us know their plans to contribute financially to the life of the church in 2017. We are pleased to report that current pledges amount to over $630,000. But we still need over $150,000 to reach our important 2017 goals, including an increased Mission budget allocation, continued program development throughout MPC, and ongoing maintenance of our treasured building. Thank you to those who have already pledged, and those who will make their pledge prior to year-end. We are so glad you have chosen MPC as a home for your heart.

THEOLOGY ON TAP
Theology on Tap will be led by Baron Mullis at Tom Daniel's home (1681 Council Bluff Dr. Atlanta, GA 30345) on Tuesday, December 6 at 7 p.m. Please RSVP to the office office@morningsidepc.org.

LET'S WATCH A MOVIE!
Pre-register for a showing of Newtown, a film exploring the aftermath of the December 14, 2012 school shooting on Wednesday, December 7 in the auditorium of the Lovett School. A group of Morningside folks organized by Peter and Carolyn Cobb, Alex Page, and Katye Watts will be attending. If you haven't already reserved your spot please visit bit.ly/NewtownATL.

MORAVIAN LOVE FEAST
Tea, a lemon/ orange yeast roll, beeswax candles, Christmas carols and anthems by our choirs will be combined this Sunday morning, December 11. The Moravians began this tradition of sharing a simple meal in 1727. Servant leaders called Dieners will serve the meal and candles in the Sanctuary as carols and anthems are sung. We hope this begins a new tradition here at MPC. Join us for this beautiful service of worship.

ADVENT TOILETRY KIT REMINDER
If you haven't had a chance to return your Advent Toiletry Kit yet, please do so by next Sunday, December 11. You can leave it at the church office or give to Sarah Tomaka.

INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO TOUR MPP

CHRISTMAS PAGEANT AND CHILI DINNER/ COOK-OFF
It's time for two of our favorite holiday traditions and YOU are invited. 41 of our MPC children are hard at work learning lines and songs, parents are sorting costumes, planning dinner and chaperoning rehearsals. Church members are helping our youngest actors feel comfortable in their starring roles. All you need to do is come join the fun! Our Pageant is Sunday, December 18 starting at 6 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Shortly after that is our Chili Dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Please click here to sign up for chili or sides. Dessert will be provided.
