THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"I believe, in my better moments, that there is a plan and things go not the way we want them to but the way they should
."
  - Ann Patchett

MONTREAT REGISTRATION IS OPEN!
There are few things so enjoyable as a hot cup of coffee on a cool autumn morning on the porch of the William Black Lodge in the North Carolina Mountains with your family around you... and you won't want to miss our congregational retreat in Montreat coming up in October. We frequently fill the William Black Lodge, so don't wait to fill out your registration form. They are available here: http://images.acswebnetworks.com/1/2687/MONTREATform.pdf and also in the Narthex and Welcome Center of the Church. Turn them into Alicia Oben in the church office. Our retreat is appropriate for all ages and is a wonderful way to "go deeper" with your church family.

HYMN-SING SUNDAY
Back by popular demand, this Sunday is the chance to ask for those hymns you always hope will appear in the bulletin - even if they don't appear in our hymnal. This Sunday's service will feature a hymn-sing lieu of the sermon, complete with hymn sheets gathered from old Gospel hymnals. We won't have funeral home fans, but it's as close to a revival as you're going to get here! Come ready to sing those old hymns - and some new ones!

SUNDAY KICK OFF
This Sunday the children's ministry will host a kick off party for all kids and teens starting at 4 p.m. Following the party at 5:30 p.m. middle and high schoolers (along with their parents) will meet with Sarah Are in Fellowship Hall, and again,  joined with their youth advisors, in the Youth Room at 6 p.m. For any questions or concerns contact Youth Committee Co-Chairs Lisa Jern lisa.jern@sutherland.comor Tara Parrish taraparrish@bellsouth.net. Please RSVP for dinner!

ICM VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED
We are seeking 12 volunteers for an Intown Collaborative Ministry (ICM) Pantry workday on September 10, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can sign-up to volunteer by placing your name on the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board or email Nancy Collins ncollins0209@gmail.com or 678.634.4572 or Laura Ulep lauraulep@gmail.com.  ICM is located at Druid Hills Methodist church.

INTERFAITH SUPPER CLUB
We will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall on Tuesday, September 13 at 7 p.m. M.Div. scholar, theologian, and public speaker Calvin Taylor will be leading the conversation on Racial Reconciliation from an interfaith perspective. Please RSVP with the number of guests and your dish to Anna Miles anna.miles@emory.edu.

WOMEN'S ROUNDTABLE
Rachel Spears will be our speaker on Monday, September 26 to talk about her work as Executive Director of the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta. PBPA connects volunteer attorneys with Georgia nonprofits in need of free business legal services. Come for dinner and fellowship at 6:30 p.m. This month's host is Lynn Young, 277 The Prado 30309. RSVP to Sarah Brownlee at rsbrownlee1046@att.net.

NEW GREETERS NEEDED
Being the first person that a visitor meets is critical to how they experience our church. It's easy, fun and a great way to make a connection with our members. We're asking for a once-a-month commitment of 20-30 minutes before Sunday worship. If interested, please contact Bill and Sanda Means billmeans@bellsouth.net.
