All Saints' Day is a day of observance in the liturgical calendar of the church in which we celebrate the lives of those whose race is run, who have kept the faith, and whose witness lives on among us in the communion of the saints.  In our communion liturgy, those who passed from this life this year will be remembered with thanksgiving to God for their lives and witnesses.  If there are friends or family who died in the last year whose names you would like remembered in this prayer on All Saints' Day, contact the church office.

November 15 is an important date in the history of Morningside Presbyterian Church. This year, on that date, MPC will celebrate its 90th anniversary! We will commemorate the special day with a Worship Service and Celebration Luncheon highlighting our congregation's past, present and future. Please mark your calendars for November 15 - we hope you'll join us!

Anybody can sympathize with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathize with a friend's success. - Oscar Wilde
There will be no food trucks this Thursday at Morningside.  We will resume again in the Spring.

Coro Vocati, an Atlanta-based choral ensemble of professional musicians, will be in concert in our Sanctuary, Saturday, October 24, presenting an evening of "Songs of Love and Remembrance" beginning at 7 p.m. Our Organist/ Choirmaster Jonathan Crutchfield is the accompanist with this choir, which quickly is rising as one of Atlanta's finest choral ensembles. Our bass soloist Brandon Odom also sings with the choir. A suggested donation of $10 will be received at the door. For information about this group, visit www.corovocati.com.

This Sunday is Commitment Sunday, and all are invited to come to the front of the church on October 25 to pledge support for Morningside in 2016. Our pledges allow for the church to plan its budget for the year ahead, as 96 percent of our funding comes from offerings. Please be a part of this special day. If you can't attend, you can also pledge at any time on line: https://secure.accessacs.com/access/memberlogin.aspx?sn=142543.

This Sunday, October 25, the Children's Choirs will lead in worship. Helping children learn how to be worship leaders is one of the goals of the Music Ministry. The choirs will sing the first stanza of the Hymn of Assurance, "Now Thank We All Our God." Parents with children in the Children's Choirs will receive logistical information from Julie Schoen. Watch your emails for this information.
This Sunday, October 25, Morningside members - and their animals - are invited to gather on the lawn at 4 p.m. for a special service in which we give thanks to God for all of creation. Traditionally celebrated on the Feast Day of St. Francis, Blessing of the Animals is our opportunity to express our love for our pets and to give thanks to God for them.  This short service welcomes all - as is our custom - but we do ask that all are appropriately restrained by leash or carrier.  Please join in giving thanks to God!

Join us this Sunday, October 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate Prince Davies-Venn's retirement after 15 years of ministry and service to Clifton. We will honor his ability to transform lives, and we will also honor this year's Clifton graduates. Dinner will be served at 5:20. For more information, contact Jack Klotz jacksklotz@gmail.com. Visit www.cliftonsanctuary.com/media/annual-dinner-graduation/ to buy tickets.
Join us as we welcome Sarah Kate, our new Director of Children's Ministries, on Monday, October 26, at 6:30 p.m. Come see why our children and families are excited about her arrival! After dinner together, Sarah Kate will talk and give us a chance to ask questions. Our intergenerational group meets monthly and enjoys good conversation, good food and wine, and great speakers who enlighten us about opportunities to serve. The host is Lynn Young, 277 The Prado, 30309. RSVP to Sarah Brownlee rsbrownlee1046@att.net.

Our annual collection of new mittens, gloves, hats and scarves for the children at Our House is in full swing! Gently used coats and sweaters may be donated. Hang your gifts on the Mitten Tree in the preschool alcove throughout the month  or place them in the welcome center baskets. Our House is a Decatur child care and support center that serves children/families facing homelessness.

Come explore the spirit of giving at our annual Thanksgiving Gathering, Monday, November 2, 5:30 - 6:45 p.m. Join us for dinner in the Fellowship Hall and stay for face painting, crafts, and games. Help kick off our canned food drive for the Atlanta Community Food Bank by bringing in non-perishable items. There is no cost for this event, but RSVPs are requested by October 30!  Members of our congregation are needed to staff the event, which especially honors our preschool families. Volunteers are encouraged to join us for the whole event or for one of three shifts: Shift 1: Set-up (4-5:15 p.m.), Shift 2: Serving food, leading activities (5:15-6:30 p.m.), and Shift 3: Clean-up (6:15-7:30 p.m.). To volunteer or to RSVP contact Lisa Ladds lisaladds@gmail.com, 678.637.4698.
