THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
"You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you." - John Bunyan

CPR/FIRST AID TRAINING
The CPR/First Aid course for Preschool  teachers and staff will be offered Friday, August 21, 9 a.m.-12 noon. The course is $30 and open to ALL; however, there are only three openings left. Please contact Melinda Sandkam at mpp@morningsidepc.org if you are interested in this opportunity.

THIS I BELIEVE
While in the Presbyterian tradition, the work of preaching is assigned to the clergy, Christian faith has a long history of testimony. On Sunday, August 23, our popular series, "This I Believe" continues with three Morningside members (Peter Chatel, Katye Watts, and Kent Balch) speaking about their faith and what shapes their core values.

CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH - AUGUST 23
On the 23rd come enjoy lunch with us provided by The Flying Biscuit (chicken & fixin's, salad, and shrimp and grits). There will be a blessing of the backpacks and a book sale put on by RHO readers. RSVP by Monday, August 17 to the church office office@morningsidepc.org.  Suggested donations are: $10, adults; $5, children. (RSVPs help us to not have an overabundance of food). We always allow for visitors on the day of, so don't hesitate to invite your pew neighbor to lunch.

ALL CHURCH RETREAT, OCTOBER 16-18
Join us in the North Carolina mountains at Montreat when our guest speaker will be The Reverend Paul Roberts, President of Johnson C. Smith Seminary. Early registration deadline will be at the Congregational Lunch on Sunday, August 23. Don't miss this great opportunity!  Registration forms are available on the web and at the church.

LITURGICAL ARTS DAY CAMP
Morningside Presbyterian Church is excited to offer a one day, hands on camp for children to explore the liturgical world through archaeology, natural sciences, and art. Jane Arant is an award-winning musician who has served as faculty to the Yale University Congregations Project for children's liturgical arts programs. Jane will lead our children through an archaeological dig to find liturgical artifacts, use math and science to predict height and weight of people today as well as in Biblical times, and much, much more. This dynamic, one day program will be offered to rising 4th through 6th graders on Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children are asked to bring their own lunch. If your student would like to attend, please email Anna Best at office@morningsidepc.org to sign up. This camp is limited to 12 students so please be sure to reserve your space now.
