THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Chesterton wrote that, Thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
While in the Presbyterian tradition, the work of preaching is assigned to the clergy, Christian faith has a long history of testimony. On Sunday, August 23, our popular series, "This I Believe" continues with three Morningside members (Peter Chatel, Katye Watts, and Kent Balch) speaking about their faith and what shapes their core values.

ALL CHURCH RETREAT, OCTOBER 16-18
Join us in the North Carolina mountains at Montreat when our guest speaker will be The Reverend Paul Roberts, President of Johnson C. Smith Seminary. Early registration deadline will be at the Congregational Lunch on Sunday, August 23. Don't miss this great opportunity!

LITURGICAL ARTS DAY CAMP
Morningside Presbyterian Church is excited to offer a one day, hands on camp for children to explore the liturgical world through archaeology, natural sciences, and art. Jane Arant is an award-winning musician who has served as faculty to the Yale University Congregations Project for children's liturgical arts programs. Jane will lead our children through an archaeological dig to find liturgical artifacts, use math and science to predict height and weight of people today as well as in Biblical times, and much, much more. This dynamic, one day program will be offered to rising 4th and 5th graders on Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children are asked to bring their own lunch. If your 4th or 5th grade student would like to attend, please email Anna Best at office@morningsidepc.org to sign up. This camp is limited to 12 students so please be sure to reserve your space now.

SUNDAY SCHOOL KICK-OFF
On Sunday, September 13 we will kick-off the Sunday School year a little later than usual. This will be the date that children move up to their new age groups.
