How often I have found that we grow to maturity not by doing what we like, but by doing what we should. How true it is that not every 'should' is a compulsion, and not every 'like' is a high morality and true freedom. - Karl Rahner

Alan Bremer (785 Cumberland Road, 30306) will host the next Theology on Tap gathering tonight, February 3, at 7 p.m. Please join us for good food and fellowship, and a program delivered by Baron Mullis on the Apostles' Creed.  Baron will give us insight into the phrase "from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead..." As we consider Lent and our own season of introspection, what does it mean that we will face judgment? What does it mean that Jesus will judge us?  Should we be afraid? RSVP to the church office office@morningsidepc.org.

The next opportunity to join Morningside Presbyterian Church will be
this Sunday, February 8. That morning, we will have an orientation to the ministries of Morningside followed by an opportunity to join. For more information, contact Baron Mullis (baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org).

Meditation is an ancient practice of stilling the "outer thinking mind" and allowing the "inner intuitive mind" to arise. It is a discipline that has been practiced by countless people from cultures and traditions around the world for thousands of years. Members and visitors of Morningside Presbyterian are invited to practice this simple technique in the benign discipline of a group. In addition, we will read and discuss books on contemplative Christianity beginning with "Putting on the Mind of Christ: The Inner Work of Christian Spirituality" by Jim Marion. We will meet the second Sunday of each month, beginning this Sunday, February 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center. For more information contact Ken Sharpe, kensharpe@bellsouth.net.

February 1-17
, we are collecting new pajamas, socks and underwear for Threads, a children's clothing ministry of All Saints Episcopal Church.  All children's sizes, infant through elementary age are welcome. Bring your donations to the baskets in the Welcome Center or to the Fellowship Hall at the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on February 17.  Don't miss our year-round collection point for gently-used clothes for Threads in the hallway near the elevator on the lower level.

On Tuesday, February 17, everyone is invited to celebrate Shrove Tuesday at our Pancake Supper and Pajama Party (children invited to wear their pajamas) in Fellowship Hall from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Enjoy dinner while Bill Packard - The Magic Man - delights kids and adults with his tricks and antics! Shrove Tuesday is the kickoff of our Lenten Coins for Children Offering which benefits Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. RSVP by February 12. Volunteers are needed for this event: 1st Shift-Prep. 4 to 5:30; 2nd Shift-Serving/Greeting 5:15 to 6:45; 3rd Shift-Clean-up 6:30 to 7:45.
