On the third Tuesday of the month MPP will partner with Uncle Maddio's Pizza to bring pizza dinners to MPP and MPC! They will donate 10 percent of the proceeds to MPP. Here's how it works - there will be order forms available in the Welcome Center to fill out and return to the preschool office the Friday before the third Tuesday. You can pay by check or credit card. Then, on Tuesday, October 21, around noon, you will be able to pick up your take and bake pizza, salad and even dessert at the preschool.

I will be leaving for Ethiopia October 20 and will return November 1.  I am traveling with a group of 7 other PC(USA) pastors including Rev. Enock DeAssis who is from Ethiopia. The purpose of the trip is to listen and to learn from strategic leaders who are impacting their nation in various ways with the good news of Jesus. For two weeks we will spend time sharing life and faith in Addis Ababa and in rural settings and will have meetings with pastors, local congregations, local youth, theologians, and others who are doing important work in Ethiopia. We pray that God will impact our own Morningside community through this engagement with brothers and sisters in Ethiopia and strengthen our united witness to God's redeeming love.

Why do we? Every fall and winter, our pledges allow the church to forecast how much it will receive in offerings and to plan an annual budget. Pledging is a deeply personal matter, and there is no uniform guidance. But we can reflecton our connection to the church, our faith in God, and prayerfully consider our giving.

This month's program, "Encountering the Spirit of God," will be facilitated by Mardee Rightmyer.  The discussion, including dinner, will be next Tuesday, October 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Julie Green and Mardee Rightmyer, 2707 Pharr Road near East Lake, 30317. All are welcome. RSVP to lgbtandfriends@morningsidepc.org.

Engage with a small but lively group of members hashing out theological terms with Baron in his office on next Thursday, October  23, at 12:30 p.m.

Six Star's new refugee family from Pakistan via Sri Lanka is settling in well in their Tucker apartment. They are so grateful to God for our help. The biggest need now is employment for the father.  His skills are in operating heavy machinery such as a fork lift and other machinery used in construction, warehousing and other settings.  Your creative thinking and help in referring him to job opportunities are appreciated.

The Our House mission is to break the chain of homelessness by providing early childhood education and comprehensive support services for families experiencing homelessness.
  • Through October 31 we will collect gently used or new items for the Mitten Tree to benefit the children of Our House (mittens, gloves, hats, etc.). Place your donations on the tree outside of Room 107.
  • We will also collect Halloween costumes - ages infant-5 years. See the Preschool Halloween Board for specific needs and bring in a new/gently-used costume by October 24.

Contact Becky Schreiber becky.schreiber@gmail.com with questions. Thank you for your support.

Everyone is invited to an opportunity to hear about the exciting future for families and children at MPC. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Child care is provided.
