THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
All grown-ups were once children...but only few of them remember it. - Antoine de Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince

COME SUPPORT MPP AT EL TACO!
Today, October 7
, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. MPP needs at least 40 diners at the Original El Taco Restaurant (1186 N. Highland Avenue) in order to receive 20 percent of the entire restaurant sales for the evening! If we have less than 40, we will receive 20 percent of our supporter's sales. Bring the family, and invite your friends and neighbors! Be sure to mention to the hostess you are with MPP. We'll see you there!

ATLANTA PRIDE SERVICE & PARADE
A Celebration of Pride service will be held at Rock Spring Presbyterian Church, 1824 Piedmont Avenue, this Thursday, October 9 at 7 p.m. LGBT & Friends will march with members of area PC(USA) congregations in the Pride Parade this Sunday, October 12. Feel free to join us after worship; parade starts at 1 p.m. For more information, contactlgbtandfriends@morningsidepc.org.

POETRY GROUP HAS ITS 2ND MEETING OCTOBER 9
We promise not to torture the poetry - or each other.  What we will do is hear poetry about the life of Jesus - and the life of faith - and consider what memories and feelings are prompted for us by reading.  This discussion-based group will meet at 12:30 p.m. this Thursday, and brown-bag lunches are welcomed.  No prior knowledge or study is necessary - it's all about the response that the words evoke in you. Come share your experiences with the group.

COUPLES GROUP
All couples are invited for conversation and dinner this Friday, October 10. Join us at 7 p.m. at Kathy and Alan Bremer's home, 785 Cumberland Road 30306. RSVP to the Bremers kdbremer@bellsouth.net.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING - THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12

The Officer Nominating Committee will announce the final slate of church leaders for the next term-Elders for the Session, and Deacons for the Board of Deacons, each to serve for three years.  We will also vote on new members for next year's Officer Nominating Committee. The meeting takes place immediately after the worship service, so plan to remain in your seat and exercise your membership right to select your church's leadership. Child care will continue.

USING OUR GIFTS
Why do we? Every fall and winter, our pledges allow the church to forecast how much it will receive in offerings and to plan an annual budget. Pledging is a deeply personal matter, and there is no uniform guidance. But we can reflecton our connection to the church, our faith in God, and prayerfully consider our giving.

RHO BOOK SALE
The RHO Readers will have a book sale during this Sunday's fellowship. The books, donated by the group and MPC members, are priced to sell. All proceeds will go to charity.

NEW ORLEANS MISSION TRIP
The Fall Mission Trip to New Orleans will be Wednesday, November 12 through  Sunday, November 16. We will work with Rebuilding Hope in New Orleans (RHINO), the mission outreach program of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church. Cost for double occupancy at the Brent House Hotel is $265 and is due by this Sunday, October 12. More information can be found on the bulletin board at church and by contacting Roland Behmroland.behm@gmail.com, 404.217.5514.

OUR HOUSE
The Our House mission is to break the chain of homelessness by providing early childhood education and comprehensive support services for families experiencing homelessness.
  • Through October 31 we will collect gently used or new items for the Mitten Tree to benefit the children of Our House (mittens, gloves, hats, etc.). Place your donations on the tree outside of Room 107.
  • We will also collect Halloween costumes - ages infant-5 years. See the Preschool Halloween Board for specific needs and bring in a new/gently-used costume by October 24.

Contact Becky Schreiber becky.schreiber@gmail.com with questions. Thank you for your support.
