Using Paul's letters to look at the issues the early Christians faced, the topic in Room 107 is The First Christians and how we wrestle with many of the same issues today. Dr. Carol Senf continues a discussion of The Psalms in Room 201.   

The story Adam and Eve introduces preschoolers to what happened when God added humans to creation. Elementary classes will continue their worship in Room 001 by reading Genesis 4:1-16, the story of Cain and Abel. Graded follow-up activities will focus on the idea that even when Cain made a terrible choice, God stayed with him.

On September 28, Morningside will join with representatives of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta to install the Rev. Drew Stockstill to the office of Associate Pastor at MPC. This special service will take place within the 11 a.m. service of worship with Dana Hughes preaching and a reception to follow.

All are welcome today, September 9, when Tai Chi resumes in Fellowship Hall at 4:30 p.m. Tai Chi is the ancient Chinese system of exercise, martial arts, and moving meditation. In class you will learn the slow, graceful movements of the Yang style. Our lunch-and-discussion series will open the fall season with a timely international topic: "Ukraine: Conflict, Creativity, and Children at Risk" at noonthis Wednesday, September 10 in Fellowship Hall. Speaking will be the Rev. Dr. Robert Gamble, a long-time friend of Robert Gray.  He will address the current situation in Ukraine and the work of This Child Here, both with youth and children without parents, and with a new initiative, Peacemaking and Reconciliation. Classes will officially begin with Weights this Thursday, September 11, and Gentle Yoga begins next Tuesday, September 16. Come and join us at 11 a.m. in Room 201 for fun, fellowship, and fitness! Join us on the second Thursday of each month as Dr. Robert Gray and Dr. Baron Mullis co-teach this poetry discussion class. This small group will meet at 12:30 p.m. to discuss the works of poets of note and how they relate to the life of faith and the church. Join us this Thursday, September 11 as we begin reading through the Life of Jesus in World Poetry using the book, Divine Inspiration.

The group will kick off its new season with "Touching Up Our Roots: A Look at the History of the Gay Pride Movement in Atlanta."  We welcome guest speaker Dave Hayward who will discuss the history of Atlanta's Gay Pride movement from its beginnings in 1972.
