Using Paul's letters to look at the issues the early Christians faced, the topic in Room 107 is The First Christians and how we wrestle with many of the same issues today. Dr. Carol Senf continues a discussion of The Psalms in Room 201.   

The Preschool Class will respond to the story It's a Noisy Place! with animal activities. Younger elementary children will continue their worship by reading Genesis 1:26-31. They will learn that God created people to live in community and to care for God's world. 4th and 5th graders will be in worship.

Fall is fast approaching! Yoga and "Weights to the Oldies" begins Tuesday, September 9 with a visit to the JDouglas showroom at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart. Classes will officially begin with Weights on Thursday, September 11, and Gentle Yoga on Tuesday September 16. Come and join us at 11 a.m. in Room 201 for fun, fellowship, and fitness! Morningside's men's group, Theology on Tap, will resume Tuesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. (note different week of the month due to Labor Day holiday). Ken Sharpe will host (1700 Timberland Road, 30345). RSVP to the church office office@morningsidepc.org.

Our lunch-and-discussion series will open the fall season with a timely international topic: "Ukraine: Conflict, Creativity, and Children at Risk" at noon on Wednesday, September 10 in Fellowship Hall. Speaking will be the Rev. Dr. Robert Gamble, a long-time friend of Robert Gray.  He will address the current situation in Ukraine and the work of This Child Here, both with youth and children without parents, and with a new initiative, Peacemaking and Reconciliation. Join us on the second Thursday of each month as Dr. Robert Gray and Dr. Baron Mullis co-teach this poetry discussion class. This small group will meet at 12:30 p.m. to discuss the works of poets of note and how they relate to the life of faith and the church. Join us September 11 as we begin reading through the Life of Jesus in World Poetry using the book, Divine Inspiration. 


Thirteen of our MPC choir members will sing in celebration of Walter Huff's 25 years with The Atlanta Opera in a special Silver Anniversary Concert. Concerts will be at Emory University's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts onFriday, September 12, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 14, at 3 p.m., as well as, at Kennesaw State University's School of Music on Tuesday, September 16 at 8 p.m. For tickets visit the opera's websitewww.atlantaopera.org. 

The group will kick off its new season with "Touching Up Our Roots: A Look at the History of the Gay Pride Movement in Atlanta."  We welcome guest speaker Dave Hayward who will discuss the history of Atlanta's Gay Pride movement from its beginnings in 1972.
