THOUGHT OF THE WEEK
Grace must find expression in life, otherwise it is not grace. - Karl Barth

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING UPDATE

With joy and thanksgiving, the congregation voted August 10 to call Drew Stockstill to the office of associate pastor! We await the vote of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta to confirm what we believe that God has done!

"THIS I BELIEVE" SUNDAY

Don't miss being in church this Sunday, August 17 for our annual "This I Believe" Sunday. Homilies will be delivered by three of our Morningside members: Betsy Holland, Lisa Jern, and Alex Page.

NEW ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES
There is plenty to discuss and learn, so two different groups will begin meeting from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings (August 17 through September 28). Using Paul's letters to look at the issues the early Christians wrestled with, the topic in Room 107 will be The First Christians and how we wrestle with many of the same issues today. Dr. Carol Senf will lead a discussion of The Psalms in Room 201.

AUGUST CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH
Please respond by August 18, if you plan to attend the congregational lunch after worship on Sunday, August 24. The menu will be Rib sandwiches, BBQ chicken sandwiches, BBQ pork sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, and dessert. Expect a fun, casual, end-of-year theme, as well as a report from our youth about their summer trips. Use the response card found in Sunday bulletins or RSVP to office@morningsidepc.org. Suggested donations are $10 adults, $5 children.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR
Practices for Cherub and Treble Choirs start on Wednesday, August 27. If you didn't get a chance to talk with Children's Choir Director Rebecca Shipley at Sunday School Kick Off, contact her atrebeccashipley@pop.mindspring.com to let her know of your interest. Older elementary children will be in the Treble Choir which will now meet Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5 p.m. each week.
