Church School for all ages

This Sunday, June 15 we continue our joint adult education class exploring the Old Testament texts you might not have heard in church and will take a closer look at some stories you thought you knew. Join us Sunday mornings in Room 201 at 9:45 a.m.

Today the preschool class will learn how Paul and all those on his ship survived a terrible storm at sea in The Shipwreck.
Elementary classes will learn how Lydia became a Christian after listening to Paul preach the Gospel.

Keeping our eyes on journey's end is what we need - the place where we see at last the world that is greater than the world, the new creation that cannot be contained in present thought or social order or piety. - Rowan Williams
Do you buy oj or milk in rectangular cartons? We need at least 12 more by this Saturday for a VBS craft. Donation baskets are in the Welcome Center.

There are 17 kids registered for elementary age Mission Camp and 16 more for Youth Track Mission Camp July 21-25.  That totals 33 attendees that we must transport to off-site outreach projects each day Monday-Wednesday.  Check your calendars NOW and let Melinda know if there is a day (or half day) that you can drive/chaperone to help us make this hands-on experience a reality for the children and youth of our church.  We must secure volunteers in June so that we have time to review Child Protection Policy before the actual camp - any off-site volunteers are considered lead volunteers, which includes reading of CPP, a one hour training video on-line and background check (including driving record).

Yoga classes will return to Room 201 at 11 a.m. beginning Tuesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 12. Instructor Pam Sharpe calls this class  "Oldies with Weights."  We think she's referring to the fun CDs she plays during the gentle but effective toning workout-not the participants! Six-week sessions cost $65.  For more information, reach out to Pam yogapam@bellsouth.net.

Are you planning to be in town for the Fourth of July, and seeking something for little ones to do in the days before the holiday?  Check out summer camp at Morningside Presbyterian Preschool.  Some openings also remain throughout other weeks of camp: June 23, and July 7, 14, 21, 28. To enroll your preschooler, contact MPP Director Sarah Tomakampp@morningsidepc.org. For the next school year, there are still openings for toddlers (who must be 15 months old by Sept. 1).

The following people joined Morningside Presbyterian Church Sunday, June 1:  Julie Schoen, Sandra Ward, and Jackie Wardlaw. Please give them a warm welcome the next time you see them.

The eclectic and changing variety of food vendors will be back the fourth Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. and serving until 8 p.m.  The playground welcomes the kids while members are having great conversations with each other and with the vast number of neighborhood visitors. Next date is June 26, then July 24 and August 28. Invite someone to join you this month!
