Carrying on Morningside's tradition of outstanding worship music, Mason Copeland debuts this Sunday, June 1, as organist/choirmaster.  Mason is a recent graduate of Indiana University with a double Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting and Organ Performance.  With an impressive background in both operatic and church music, he most recently served as organist/choirmaster at the Episcopal Church of All Saints in Indianapolis from 2008 until coming to MPC.  Mason and his fiancée Elisabeth Smith, a cellist, will be welcomed during the service and also at a reception following in Fellowship Hall.
Calling all those who have just completed 2nd-4th grade!  Youth Track Mission Camp is fully enrolled with rising middle and high schoolers.  We now need YOU to help us complete enrollment for regular Mission Camp.  All forms are due with payment by this Sunday, June 1 (available on website and here at church).

In order to make VBS and Mission Camp happen for the children in our community, we need you!  Please sign up on the bulletin board across from the Nursery Room 105 or contact Melinda Sandkam today with any questions.
  • Loan items - Help us fill Noah's Ark with realistic looking stuffed animals (all sizes). Bring to Room 005 by June 15 with your name on them.
  • Recycle items - bring newspapers and plastics bags to the baskets outside Room 001 for Mission Campers to take on their outreach visits to the Atlanta Humane Society and Intown Collaborative Ministries.  Bring clean rectangle milk or orange juice containers in for a Noah's Ark craft.
  • Donate Items - choose a snack item to donate from the VBS Welcome Center display.  If you would like to find a new home for any realistic looking stuffed animals, bring them in to board the ark.
  • Volunteer 1 to 3 hours - See the needs as described on the VBS sign-up across from the nursery. They range from preparing the snack, to helping in the nursery, helping with prep, set up or clean up and even volunteering for a day with the kids.  The next VBS workday will beThursday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
  • Be a Chaperone/Driver (for half day or whole) - Help us transport our mission campers to their outreach projects throughout Atlanta Monday-Wednesday, July 21-23, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

MONTREAT YOUTH TRIP This year a few of our high school youth will attend Monreat Youth Conference (June 1-7).  The theme is "Rooted and Reaching."  At Montreat the youth will be able to connect with other youth from all over the country. They will be doing energizers, small group discussions, recreation and worship. The Youth Conference is a great place for youth to explore their identity in a Christian community, and the conference aims to challenge and empower participants to discover their gifts so that together we can reach out and be the church in the world.

On Friday, June 13, everyone is invited to gather with the Couples Group at DBA Bar-B-Que in Virginia Highland at 7 p.m.  Pat and Jim Antenucci will host the group. More information will follow.
