THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

Being a Christan is less about cautiously avoiding sin than about courageously and actively doing God's will. - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

GALA BENEFIT EVENING, SATURDAY, MAY 3
Twenty-five singers and musicians from Morningside are busy preparing the Spring Gala Benefit "The Way You Look Tonight, Morningside Sings Jerome Kern." Classic American songs included in the performance are Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Pick Yourself Up, All the Things You Are and The Last Time I Saw Paris. Donations received at the performance will enhance the community ministries which Morningside supports. The performance is at 7:30 p.m.  Invite your friends and neighbors!

INTOWN COLLABORATIVE MINISTRIES ARTS & EATS

Attend the ICM Arts and Eats fundraiser, a fun event with entertainment and great auction items, this Sunday, May 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hellenic Center on Clairmont Road. Money raised will support the Food Pantry and Snack in a Backpack programs. Tickets tickets@intownicm.org are $100. Contact Heather Regnault 404.771.0716, hpregnault@yahoo.com for information.

SAYING "THANK YOU" FOR A JOB WELL DONE
As we look ahead to the arrival of Mason Copeland as Morningside's new organist/choirmaster, we owe a deep word of thanks for a job well done to Robert Bolyard, interim choirmaster, and Sarah Martin, interim organist.  We need not think back any further than the glorious Easter music to know how well and truly they have accomplished the task of bridging the time between Walter Huff and Mason - and indeed, in offering us new ways to think of worship and music. Say "thank you" to Robert and Sarah at our Congregational Lunch on May 18.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, JUNE 16-20
All Aboard the Ark Vacation Bible School is for those who will be four years old by September 1 through 5th grade (with youth leadership opportunities). It is truly a lot of fun, and we need YOU to volunteer to be able to offer this program to the children of our community. Contact Melinda Sandkam to volunteer. Registration forms are available online and at the church. Deadline is May 25.

IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT ME - MISSION CAMP, JULY 21-25
This camp is for rising 3rd-5th graders and will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all week with an overnight trip on Thursday.  Register by the June 1 deadline with forms found on the bulletin board across from the Nursery Room 105 or online.  We also offer a Youth Track Mission Camp the same week. Contact Melinda Sandkam msandkam@morningsidepc.org with questions.

STORYTELLERS CAMP REGISTRATION
MPP's Summer Storytellers Camp will open new opportunities for children age 2 to 5 this summer! Weekly camps are June 2 through August 1 with one week off for VBS. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration forms are available online and at the preschool. Contact Summer Camp Coordinator Christi Feeney cfeeney@morningsidepc.org with questions.

ITEMS NEEDED THIS SUMMER
If you have realistic looking stuffed animals (ie. no pink elephants) to loan or donate to the church for our Noah's Ark themed VBS, we would welcome them. Bring to Melinda who will see they are returned after June 20. During Mission Camp, we visit the Atlanta Humane Society who always needs newspaper to shred for puppies and the food pantry at Intown Collaborative Ministries who can never have enough plastic grocery bags. We will collect these items over the next few months in Room 001.
