The Night Shelter at Druid Hills Presbyterian Church

Druid Hills' night shelter is the result of a partnership of more than twenty churches and organizations throughout the metro-Atlanta area. The Night Shelter provides transitional housing for up to thirty men who are employed or actively seeking work. Referred by Crossroads, a Samaritan House or Intown Community Assistance, guests receive dinner, a safe night's sleep, a shower, and breakfast.

Morningside’s participation:

On the second Sunday of each month from November through March, Morningside Presbyterian will provide dinner for the 30 guests at the shelter. This wonderful opportunity for service allows us to work toward eliminating one of the most prevalent and pressing concerns in the Atlanta area, homelessness. This is another example of Morningside's commitment to homeless women and men in Atlanta

How you can get involved:

We are in need of people to prepare the meals as well as folks who are able to deliver the meal at 6:00 p.m. on our Sunday evenings. Click here for more detailed instructions about serving food to the Shelter residents.

Additionally, the shelter regularly needs toiletries and other necessities. Current needs include: first aid supplies (band-aids, aspirin, etc.), sheets and pillows, towels, washcloths, soap (travel size), toothpaste (travel size) and lotion (travel size).

Together, we can provide a hot meal and warm fellowship to members of our community in deep need and in so doing share the compassion and mercy of God that we proclaim.
