Habitat for Humanity Build
Habitat for Humanity Building International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need. Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1,000,000 people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter. HFHI was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller along with his wife Linda. http://www.habitat.org/
Morningside’s participation:
We partner with other area churches to build one house a year. The 2008 build continues on Saturdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., from April 5 through May 17. April 19 is the Young Adult Build, May 3 is the Dad's Build and May 17 is the Women's Build, but anyone is welcome to participate on all of those days. Sign up at church or send an email to Lynsley Tyler for more information.
How you can get involved:
During a build, we provide 8 workers for an 8 hour shift for 8 Saturdays. Sign up to build for one or more Saturdays! Also, we need people to provide lunch for 50 people. Volunteer to provide lunch.
