The African nation of Liberia is in recovery from more than 10 years of brutal civil conflict. Educating the young generation of Liberians is a top priority. One effective school, founded by Baptist missionaries, is Ricks Institute. For several years, Mercer University has sent teams of professors and education students to Ricks Institute for a month to both teach and learn. Morningside member and Mercer professor Dr. Emilie Paille has traveled with this group for several years. Morningside Prsbyterian has adopted this outreach program by providing educational materials that the Mercer team can use and then leave behind for the teachers and students at Ricks Institute. Look for the collection in late spring.
