Life@Morningside for October 22, 2017

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church.

Eliza Smith, Intern is our preacher and Beth Waltemath, Associate for Mission and Faith Development will be our liturgist.

• Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing aids are available; ushers will gladly assist.

• Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship.

• Children are welcomed and encouraged in worship every Sunday. Worship bags for children can be found in the Narthex.

• Childcare for 0-23 months is in Room 105, and Room 012 for 2 and 3 year olds.

• Pre-K/K in room 001.

COMMITMENT SEASON HAS BEGUN

During Commitment season, we consider our gift in the year ahead and let the church and God know our plans to contribute financially to the life of the church. About 96 percent of the church budget comes from offerings, which means that our pledges allow Morningside’s leaders to know what funding will be available next year for salaries, facility maintenance, mission work, children, youth programs and more. This year, we hope to increase our pledges by 10 percent in order to reach our goals in 2018. Join us on Commitment Sunday, October 29, in pledging your support to Morningside. You can also pledge any time online: https://secure.accessacs.com/access/memberlogin.aspx

NOMINATE TODAY

We are seeking your nominations for Elders for the Session and Deacons for the Board of Deacons. Nomination forms will be in the Narthex, and the Welcome Center. You can turn in nomination forms to the church office, the offering plate or in one of the boxes in the Narthex and Welcome Center.

UNTIL NEXT TIME

Our Beloved tenor section leader John Young is moving with Ken Yunker to begin an exciting new career with the Sarasota Opera Company. Through each career move that took him elsewhere, John says MPC always has been his home church. We thank John for his wonderful music leadership and wish God’s greatest blessings to John and Ken while we are apart.

UPCOMING NEW MEMBERS’ CLASS

It is time to schedule our next new members’ class, and we would like to hear from you if you’re interested in joining so that we may schedule accordingly. Please let Baron Mullis know of your interest in joining the church either by contacting him directly at Baron.Mullis@morningsidepc.org, or you may check the “interested in becoming a member” box on the friendship pad and provide your e-mail or phone number. We look forward to welcoming our next class of new members!

ALL SAINTS’ OBSERVANCE
NOVEMBER 5

All Saints’ Day is a day of observance in the liturgical calendar of the church in which we celebrate the lives of those whose race is run, who have kept the faith, and whose witness lives on among us in the communion of the saints. In our communion liturgy, those who passed from this life this year will be remembered with thanksgiving to God for their lives and witnesses. If there are names you would like remembered in this prayer, contact office@Morningsidepc.org
