Life@Morningside for August 27, 2017

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church.

Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor is our preacher and Mardee Rightmyer, Director of Children’s Ministry is our liturgist.

• Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing aids are available; ushers will gladly assist.

• Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship.

• Children are welcomed and encouraged in worship every Sunday. Worship bags for children can be found in the Narthex. Those who wish to attend Sunday School may do so after the Peace of Christ.

• Childcare for 0-23 months is in Room 105, and Room 012 for 2 and 3 year olds.

• Pre-K/K are in room 001.

DOBBS NEEDS YOU

Please support our partnership with Dobbs Elementary School as the teachers prepare for the new school year. We are collecting items to stock their classrooms and student incentive closet. Please see the list of requested items on the Mission bulletin board.

DO YOU HAVE THESE ITEMS?

Do you have any early reading games or electronic toys laying around? Bienfait Kinumbe is looking for some exposure to the building blocks of reading, and it would be very helpful to provide him with a Leapfrog or similar device to use on his own time. He is still learning the phonetics of the alphabet and the English label for each letter, so any activities related to those skills are especially pertinent.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in need of one or more volunteers for midday Meals on Wheels delivery in our Morningside -Virginia Highland neighborhood. The route takes about one hour or less, depending on traffic. Pick up is at First Presbyterian Church in Midtown. If you would like to volunteer (or if you already volunteer and would be willing to take another day), please contact Sarah Brownlee at 404-876-3572 or rsbrownlee1046@att.net. The open days are first Fridays.

WELCOMING OUR INTERIM YOUTH DIRECTOR

The Rev. Mathew Frease (Matt) has agreed to serve as interim youth director while our search continues. Many of you will know Matt and Ame from small groups, worship, and other ways they are already involved in the church. Matt most recently led our Middle School youth group on their trip to Massanetta Springs, and is well-known and well-loved by the youth. He will serve part-time at Morningside while he continues his doctoral studies at Columbia Theological Seminary.
