Life@Morningside for June 11, 2017

WORSHIP TIME HAS CHANGED TO 10 A.M. STARTING NEXT SUNDAY, JUNE 18

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church.

Aaron Pratt Shepherd, Candidate for Ministry is our preacher and Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor, and Beth Waltemath, Associate for Mission and Faith Development are our liturgists.

• Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing aids are available; ushers will gladly assist.

• Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship.

• Children are welcomed and encouraged in worship every Sunday. Worship bags for children can be found in the Narthex. Those who wish to attend Sunday School may do so after the Peace of Christ.

• Childcare for 0-23 months is in Room 105, and Room 012 for 2 and 3 year olds.

• Pre-K/K are in room 001.

BECOME A MEMBER

It is important to have a church home - a place to worship God amongst others, a place to grow your faith in and to turn to in times of trouble and celebration. Morningside wants to be that place for you. If you are interested in becoming a member, please join our next New Member Class on Sunday, June 18 at 9 a.m. Please contact Baron Mullis, Baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org if you have questions.

RIDES TO THE CHURCH

The Kinumbe-Bauma family enjoys joining us, their family, on Sundays. The Sign-Up Genius has been updated to include dates in June and July. With the worship service changing to 10 a.m., the pick-up time will be 9:30 a.m. On Sunday, June 18 we need someone to pick them up early (8:30 a.m.) so they can join our New Members Class at 9a.m. Please consider giving the Kinumbe-Bauma family a ride and helping them get to know one more member of their church community. http:www.signupgenius.com/go/409044ca5aa28a3ff2-rides

RHO READERS

RHO Readers welcome you the third Sunday of the month at 11:30 a.m. this summer in the Session Room for free-flowing discussions. On Sunday, June 18 we will discuss the book From Silk to Silicon: The Story of Globalization through 10 Extraordinary Lives by Jeffrey E. Garten.

DR. JONATHAN CRUTCHFIELD

Organist/Choirmaster Dr. Jonathan Crutchfield has traveled to Italy to bless them with beautiful sounds of music. Please join us in wishing him safe travels as he returns from a memorable experience.

DONUTS WITH MARDEE

After the Second Sunday service today, please stop by the Welcome Center for donuts and get to know Mardee Rightmyer, our new Director of Children’s Ministries. Additionally, if your child is registered for VBS, you can pick up the registration packet at that time.

RENOVATIONS COMING SOON

We will begin renovations in the Fellowship Hall starting on Monday, June 19 with a schedule anticipating completion in early August. Instead of socializing in Fellowship Hall after worship, we will move over to the patio, lawn and in the Welcome Center. This will all depend on the weather.

FOOD TRUCKS

Food trucks will be returning to Morningside on Thursday, June 22 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Come prepared for fun, great conversation, and excellent food.

BOOK SIGNING PARTY

Our pastor Rev. Dr. Baron Mullis has written a book titled Like An Ever-flowing Stream: Sermons of Call, Response, Vocation, and Love. This book is a collection of sermons in one anthology. Copies will be available this month and there’ll be a book-signing party during our after-worship social hour on Sunday, June 25.

ARTS AND CRAFTS GUILD

Join Morningside’s Arts and Crafts Guild on the first and third Mondays of every month. This is a great opportunity to connect with members of our church. For more information or to simply ask a question, please contact Beth Baer bbaerlaw@gmail.com who leads the guild.

MORNINGSIDE SINGS MUSICAL GALA

This year’s gala is right around the corner. Prepare your calendars for two opportunities to watch Morningside Sings Musical Magic, featuring music from a variety of Disney movies and shows which will be on Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20. Derek Matthews and Jeff Peters are currently preparing to bring you an unforgettable show. Many of the congregation are generously contributing time and talent to bring this year’s benefit production to life. We will continue our tradition of asking members to consider joining our 2017 Morningside Sings Patrons Circle to ensure that production expenses are covered and that we reach our goal of making significant donations to our music programs and mission ministries. Those who contribute $100 or more will enjoy a patrons reception on Thursday, July 13 and be the very first to preview select magical musical moments from this year’s gala.

WE NEED A CHAIR

If anyone has a director’s chair we could borrow for the gala then please contact Shari Tant at 678-549-1051 or sdtant51@gmail.com
