WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY 

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church. 

Rev. Paul T. Roberts, Sr., is our preacher and Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor, and Sarah Are, Interim Director of Youth Ministries , are our liturgists. 

• Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing aids are available; ushers will gladly assist. 

• Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship. 

• Children are welcomed and encouraged in worship every Sunday. Worship bags for children can be found in the Narthex. Those who wish to attend Sunday School may do so after the Peace of Christ. 

• Childcare for 0-23 months is in Room 105, and Room 012 for 2 and 3 year olds. 

• Pre-K/K are in room 001. 

• 1st through 3rd grade in room 003. 

 

FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY 

The flowers today are given to the Glory of God in honor of the music ministry at Morningside Presbyterian by the Mashburns. 

 

GUEST PREACHER

We are excited to welcome Rev. Paul T. Roberts, Sr., President of Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary to our pulpit today. Paul serves on the boards of the Presbyterian Foundation (PCUSA) and the Macedonian Ministry Inc. of Atlanta. He is the recipient of the 2016 Devoted Service Award from Louisville Theological Seminary and will be our guest speaker this year during our retreat to Montreat. 

 

CONGREGATIONAL SYMPATHY 

Our sympathies to Charlsie and Herb Woolley, and Charles and Tish Woolley and their children, on the death of Herb’s mother, Mary Woolley, on Saturday, April 22. We surround the Woolley family in our prayers. 

 

CONFIRMANDS

BAPTISM TODAY 

Luke Potter, child of Mindy and Brian Potter, will receive the sacrament of baptism this morning. 

 

MEMORIAL GARDEN DEDICATION 

Immediately following worship today (granted the weather permits) we will dedicate the Morningside Memorial Garden. 

 

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT 

It is always a joyous feeling to know that a baby has arrived. In this case, TWO babies have arrived. Congratulations to the Terry family with the birth of Hannah Mae on Apr. 20, baby sister to twins Carolyn and Eva and third daughter of Emilee and David. Also, please join parents Ashley and Matthew Hoffman in welcoming Emily Rose Hoffman, born Saturday, April 22. 

 

CONGREGATIONAL LUNCH 

On Sunday, May 7, MPC will kick off its first congregational lunch of the year which benefits our Youth Mission. We will have a wonderful lunch supplied by Zoe” Kitchen – Chicken and Steak Kabobs, Chicken and Steak Rollups, Grilled Potato Salad, Marinated Slaw, Hummus and Pimento Cheese with Pita. VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED 

Volunteers are needed to transport our refugee family to and from church weekly. Bienfait and his family live in Clarkston, and wish to become members. The only requirement is to have a car with three seat belts in the back. To volunteer please contact Katye Watts katyemae@gmail.com and she will direct you to the Sign Up Genius website. 

 

THEOLOGY ON TAP 

Our next Theology on Tap will be hosted by Bob Wells on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Bob and Rosemary can be found at 1466 Lanier Place, Atlanta 30306.This will be our final Theology on Tap before breaking for the summer. 

 

CELEBRATE MOMS 

Join MPC’s Children’s Ministry for a celebration of moms on Sunday, May 14. We will have a social gathering on the patio from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. complete with flowers, sweet treats, and photos! Whether you attend our Second Sunday @8:45 or the 11 a.m. service, you are welcome to enjoy the fun. We look forward to seeing you there!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We now turn our eyes to the summer and Vacation Bible School. We will be showing our children how to “discover their strength in God” for 4 fun-filled days, June 12-15. Please sign your children up by May 11 in order to enjoy the “early bird” cost of $25. The cost rises to $40 beginning May 12. Registration ends on May 26. We also need your help to make VBS a success by creating décor, setting up, helping during the week and break down. We also need items to be donated. Faith Development at Morningside 

ADULT 

Rev. Paul Roberts, President of Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary will present intercultural intelligence, a short and engaging slide presentation. He will introduce participants to the broad field of intercultural competency and identify skills all of us can use to be more effective across the relational lines of difference. 

CHILDREN 

We Celebrate Jesus! Today we continue to study Peter. Jesus asked Peter three times to take care of others – feed my lambs, tend my sheep, feed my sheep. When we help take care of others, we follow Jesus. John 21:15-19
