If you are interested in starting a Cooking Guild then we would like for you to please contact Susan Oder susanoder@gmail.com. Whether you are a baker or soup maker, we have a place for you. Organizational sessions are set for Tuesday, June 6 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. in room 201. Come and join us! Lots of fun to be had and remembered.

BECOME A MEMBER

Membership makes a statement that as a Christian you are identifying with our local body of believers and are committed to the unity and work that God is doing here at Morningside. Our next New Member Class will be on Sunday, June 18 at 9 a.m. Please contact Baron Mullis, Baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org if you have questions or would like to become a member.

HOST FELLOWSHIP HOUR

Are you interested in hosting Fellowship Hour? If so we would like to hear from you. The available dates to host are July 30 and August 6. Contact Jennifer James jennjames26@outlook.com to express your interest.

RIDES TO CHURCH

The Kinumbe-Bauma family enjoys joining us “their family” on Sundays. The Sign-Up Genius has been updated to include dates in June and July. With the worship service change to 10 a.m., the pick-up time will be 9:30 a.m. (Note it takes 18 minutes from the church to their apartment in Clarkston). On Sunday, June 18 we need someone to pick them up early (8:30 a.m.) so they can join our New Members Class at 9:00 a.m. Please consider giving Bienfait, Georgine, Ezekial and Dorcas a ride and helping them get to know one more member of their new church community. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044ca5aa28a3ff2-rides

BEGINNING SUNDAY, JUNE 18TH

WORSHIP SERVICE WILL START AT 10 A.M.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We are excited to say that more than 65 children will be joining us June 12-15 to discover their strength in God. More than 30 folks signed up to volunteer! We could still use additional help - either volunteering, helping set up or break down, or donating needed items and food. If you have an hour or two to spare after worship on June 11, we would love to have help setting up. Many hands make light work! To donate or volunteer, please visit https://2017.cokesburyvbs.com/morningsidepresbyterianchurch or contact Amanda Lewis amandaslewis4@gmail.com or Emily Hylton ehylton77@gmail.com

MARK YOUR CALENDERS

On Sunday, June 4, we welcome Mardee Rightmyer as Director of Children’s Ministries at MPC. In her honor, there’ll be popsicles for everyone after church on the front lawn. Don’t miss it!

PENTECOST CELEBRATION

Everyone is invited to a special intergenerational Pentecost activity on Sunday, June 4 at 9:45 a.m. when we will experience the joy and chaos of that first Pentecost celebration. ALL AGES are invited! Weather permitting, we will be outside. If it rains, we will use several classrooms to add to the chaos (controlled, of course). This will be your chance to experience the hands-on learning style of our new DCM.

YOGA THIS SUMMER

Summer Yoga Classes begin on Tuesday, June 6th, at 11 am in Room 201. Yogasculpt classes begin on Thursday, June 8th, at 11 am in Room 201. Please join us, and wear something cool and comfy... the yoga is gentle and instructive, the sculpt is oriented towards strength and stretch. For more info please contact Pam Sharpe, RYT 500, at yogapam@bellsouth.net. Namaste.

RHO READERS

RHO Readers welcome you the third Sunday of the month at 11:30 a.m. this Summer in the Session Room for free-flowing discussions. On Sunday, June 18 we will discuss the book From Silk to Silicon: The Story of Globalization through 10 Extraordinary Lives by Jeffrey E. Garten.

Faith Development at Morningside

ADULT

Next week we will continue brainstorming and discussing what we want to learn in the 2017-2018 church year. We invite new voices to join us and help us consider ways to engage learning as a whole church. (Please note that Faith Development Classes begin at 9:45 a.m.)

CHILDREN

We Can Tell the Good News About Jesus! Peter had to go to prison, but he was not worried. An angel helped him escape and he went to a home where his friends were praying for him. God hears our prayers and responds to them. Acts 12:1-17
