WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY 

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church. 

Beth Waltemath, Interim Associate for Mission and Faith Development is our preacher and Anna Miles, Candidate for Ministry is our liturgist. 

• Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing aids are available; ushers will gladly assist. 

• Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship. 

• Children are welcomed and encouraged in worship every Sunday. Worship bags for children can be found in the Narthex. Those who wish to attend Sunday School may do so after the Peace of Christ. 

• Childcare for 0-23 months is in Room 105, and Room 012 for 2 and 3 year olds. 

• Pre-K/K are in room 001. 

• 1st through 3rd grade in room 003. 

 

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR DICK STACK 

The service of Commital for Dick Stack will be held at the National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Friday, May 26 at 11:15 a.m. All are welcome and invited to attend. Please let Jane know of your intentions at 404-202-0844 so she may make appropriate arrangements. 

 

BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT 

Congratulations to Amy, Van and big brother Zane Jensen on the birth of Silas Lane Jensen who was born at 7:48 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, at DeKalb Medical. He is 7 pounds 15 ounces and 19.5 inches long. 

 

CALLING ALL COOKS 

We’ve thought about it for a while and it looks like it may come into fruition. If you are interested in starting a Cooking Guild then we would like for you to please contact Susan Oder susanoder@gmail.com. Whether you are a baker or soup maker, we have a place for you. When we know who is interested, we will schedule a meeting to discuss organization and plans. Come and join us! Lots of fun to be had and remembered.

HOST FELLOWSHIP HOUR

LETTERS COMING YOUR WAY 

Bill Humphries, our church treasurer, has sent a letter to all members concerning our capital campaign. We are in the home stretch and need everyone onboard for a successful finish. 

 

CAN YOU OFFER A RIDE? 

Sign up to bring our sponsored refugee family, the Kinumbe-Baumas, to or from church or arrange an Uber and meet them at Coffee and Conversation. Contact the office for the link. 

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 

This summer we will show our children how to “discover their strength in God” for four fun-filled days, June 12-15. The fee is $40 until registration ends on Friday, May 26. Your help will make VBS a success by creating décor, setting up, helping during the week and break down. We also need items to be donated. MARK YOUR CALENDERS 

On Sunday, June 4, we welcome Mardee Rightmy-er as Director of Children’s Ministries at MPC. In her honor, there’ll be popsicles for fellowship after church on the front lawn. Don’t miss it! 

 

PENTECOST CELEBRATION 

Everyone is invited to a special intergenerational Pentecost activity on Sunday, June 4 at 9:45 a.m. when we will experience the joy and chaos of that first Pentecost celebration. ALL AGES are invited! Weather permitting, we will be outside. If it rains, we will use several classrooms to add to the chaos (controlled, of course). This will be your chance to experience the hands-on learning style of our new DCM. 

 

YOGA THIS SUMMER 

Summer Yoga Classes begin on Tuesday, June 6 at 11 a.m. in Room 201. Yogasculpt classes begin on Thursday, June 8 at 11 a.m. in Room 201. Please join us and wear something comfy. For more info please contact Pam Sharpe, RYT 500, at yogapam@bellsouth.net

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We need volunteers Saturday, June 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Intown Collaborative Ministry pantry to distribute food to homeless and in-need folks in our area. The pantry is located at McIver Hall next to Druid Hills Presby-terian Church near the corner of N. Highland and Ponce. PICK-A-PAN 

Join in and help prepare a dinner for the men at Clifton Shelter on Saturday, May 27. Please Pick-a-Pan from the Narthex on Sunday, May 21 and bring your dish to the Clifton Shelter by 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 27. Contact Ann Watson at 404.273.9515 or atwatson@mindspring.com if you have any questions. We’ll have a great time sharing the evening with these men; however, it is not necessary for you to stay. 

 

Faith Development at Morningside 

ADULT 

Emilie Paille will lead the Adult Faith Development Class in a brainstorming session and discussion about what we want to learn in the 2017-2018 church year. We invite new voices to join us and help us consider ways to engage learning as a whole church. 

CHILDREN 

We Can Tell the Good News About Jesus! Cornelius was the first person who was not Jewish to become a Christian. The good news of Jesus is meant for all people-every single one! Acts 10:1-28
