JOIN OUR POETRY GROUP

Morningside offers a poetry group that is a source of ideas, motivation and inspiration. One of the most rewarding benefits of joining our poetry group is sharing your ideas and visions in good company. We will meet on Thursday, February 9 at 12:30 p.m. in Baron’s office. Please RSVP to the office office@morningsidepc.org

SMILE FOR THE CAMERA

Lifetouch photogra-phers will be at Morningside begin-ning Wednesday, February 1 through Sunday, February 5, and again on Wednesday, February 8 through Sunday, February 12 to take portraits for our new church directory. For more information, please see today's insert.

FAMILY MISSION HELPING WITH
REFUGEE SPONSORSHIP

Thank you to our families who signed up to generously donate new and used items to help the refugee family settle into Atlanta. There are still a few remaining items, including a convertible car seat, comforters, and mattresses needed to complete the baby and children items. For more information, contact elizabethsommerfeld@gmail.com

DONATIONS ARE WELCOME

Thank you to all who signed up to bring items for the apartment to house a refugee family. Please drop your donations off in the stairwell to the right of the welcome center. Donations will be transported and stored on the stage in the fellowship hall until the family is identified and an apartment is rented. For larger items like a sofa, décor or items not on the list or on the giving tree, email a photo and dimensions to katyemae@gmail.com. We will contact you for delivery when the space is rented and our extra needs are identified.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

The women’s shelter at Shearith Israel’s (SI) Rebecca’s Tent has been an important part of Morningside’s Mission Program in years past. The next available dates to volunteer are Friday, February 10 through Sunday, February 12. Volunteers arrive at the shelter (1180 University Drive, 30306) at 6 p.m. to warm and serve the meal to residents. We leave by 8 p.m. Sign up on the mission bulletin board.

VOLUNTEER WITH ICM

Have you been interested in getting more in-volved in a local charity? Now is the time to consider volunteering with InTown Collabora-tive Ministries Food Pantry. This is an im-portant ministry that helps distribute food to low income and homeless people in our imme-diate area. The location has moved to McIver Hall behind Druid Hills Presbyterian Church (1026 Ponce de Leon) and needs your help on Saturday, February 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For questions please contact Laura Ulep lauraulep@gmail.com or 843.607.3980.

Faith Development at Morningside

ADULT CLASS

Next week, Jim Martin will lead us in a session on national and international issues and the PC (USA)’s stance on these.

CHILDREN

Come to the River: John the Baptist grew up and began baptizing people in the River Jordan. Jesus came from Nazareth to be baptized by John. As Jesus was coming out of the water the Spirit descended on him like a dove, and a voice from heaven claimed Jesus as God’s Son. Jesus’ baptism marked the beginning of his ministry. Matthew 3:13-17
