WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY 

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church. 

Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor is our preacher, Beth Waltemath, Associate for Mission and Faith Development is our liturgist. 

• Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing aids are available; ushers will gladly assist. 

• Please complete the information in the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down and back again during the Concerns portion of worship. 

• Children are welcomed and encouraged in worship every Sunday. Should your child grow restless during the service they are invited to exit the sanctuary at the Peace of Christ to attend Sunday School. 

• PreK and Kindergarten are in Room 001 and remain until the end of worship. 

• 1st - 5th Grade in rooms 003 and 005 and return at the offertory. 

• Childcare for 0-23 months is in Room 105, and Room 012 for 2 and 3 year olds. 

• Worship bags are available for all children in the narthex. 

 

NEW MEMBERS CLASS 

We are preparing to schedule our next new members class for December of this year. If you wish to join Morningside Presbyterian Church, please contact our pastor, Baron Mullis. This class will be scheduled based upon maximum availability, so please let Baron hear from you. 

 

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY 

Are you interested in being the Director of Children’s Ministries? Well you’re in luck! A current position is open and we’re accepting applications. You can find the job description on the homepage of our website. The preferred candidate will have a degree in Christian education or other education area. Hands-on experience in creating and directing children’s ministry programs is a strong plus. Applications should go to directorsearch@morningsidepc.org. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT 

Congratulations to Nancy and Dr. William McLeod Frampton on the birth of their grandson, William McLeod Frampton V, who was born on Monday, November 7 weighing 8lbs and 4oz. 

 

TURKEYS ARE HERE! 

Our family mission project for November is to collect coins each day of the month for Thornwell, a Presbyterian home that provides a loving and nurturing environment to children in need. Please pick up your cardboard turkey today outside of the Sanctuary and return turkeys and coins to the church no later than November 30th. 

 

RSVP TO READ AT DOBBS 

There is still room for you to come with us to read with a child at Dobbs Elementary school at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16. We will meet at the church at 10:30 a.m. and carpool to Dobbs Elementary School together. Please let Baron know you’re coming by replying to office@morningsidepc.org

 

LGBT AND FRIENDS INVITES YOU 

The November meeting of LGBT & Friends, LGBT Estate and Financial Planning, will be on Tuesday, November 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the home of Christian Bromley and Christopher Crowder. You are invited to join our conversation about Breaking Wild, the first adult novel by Diane Les Becquets, on Sunday, November 20 at 12:30 p.m. The beauty about Breaking Wild is that you’re introduced to strong female characters, survival fiction and exceptional natural settings. Carol Senf will lead the discussion in the Session Room. All are welcome! 

 

ADVENT TOILETRY KITS FOR ICM 

Starting on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, children are to use this kit to mark Advent and to look forward to bringing light into the world. Each day, you put in an item that is needed by a person without a home. And each day, you take out a reading from the story of Jesus’ birth. At the end of the week you will have a whole bag of goodies for someone who needs it. We will present the toiletry kits during worship on Sunday, December 4th. Pick up the bags at choir practice, Sunday School or from Sarah Tomaka sarah.tomaka@gmail.com

 

NEW “OUR DAILY BREAD” AVAILABLE 

Copies of the devotional booklet, Our Daily Bread, (December through February) are available in the Narthex and Welcome Center. Pick one up as you leave the sanctuary this morning.

*Christmas is a time of reflection, a time for good cheer, a time for family and friends, during a special time of the year! MPC Couples is having a Christmas Celebration on Friday, December 9, and you’re invited! This year, the Bremers’ will be hosting this event. More details will be provided closer to the date.

Faith Development at Morningside 

ADULT CLASS 

Next Sunday Ken Sharpe continues to take us through a two part series of imagery in the spiritual life. He discusses with the topic called “Judaism: A Way of Being.” 

CHILDREN 

Children will learn more about Moses. In today’s scripture, Exodus 19:1-20:21, we will talk about the 10 Commandments and how they provide structure for our lives and a framework within which we can know how we are to act. God’s laws are provided to help us know how to love and serve God, and how to live in relationship with each other.
