YOUTH DIRECTOR

Sarah Are, our new half-time Youth Director, will be starting at Morningside on September 4. Sarah is a third year student a Columbia Theological Seminary. During her time here, she will guide the spiritual growth amongst our youth.

MAKING OUR COMMUNITY GREATER

We are making it a point to get to know our neighbors this season. Unfortunately, too often it seems we are divided up by neighborhood and demographics. But we, here at Morningside, are taking the initiative to change that. We are partnering with John Wesley Dobbs Elementary School in order to get to know them and let them get to know us. Dobbs is about 20 minutes away from Morningside down Briarcliff Road and is in the cluster of schools served by our own Leslie Grant on the school board. We are meeting on Wednesday, September 7 at 7 p.m. in the Session Room to make some plans and brainstorm some ideas about how to live out this partnership. If you are looking for an opportunity to do something for someone other than yourself or your family, remember, there’s nothing more Presbyterian than supporting education.

PRESCHOOL OPENING

Is or will your child be 3 years old by Thursday, September 1? If so, then you are welcome to apply for the opening at Morningside Presbyterian Preschool. Contact Melinda mpp@morningsidepc.org today if you are still seeking an excellent early childhood education experience for your three year old for the 2016-2017 school year!

FALL YOGA CLASSES

Yoga begins Tuesday, September 6 in room 201 at 11 a.m. Pam Sharpe, fitness and yoga professional, leads the class with a gentle and restorative approach. Just come and wear comfy clothes and bring a yoga mat. Thursday’s class, Weights to the Oldies, begins September 8, in room 201 and combines work with weights and upbeat music. Sessions run for six weeks and the cost is $70 per session. Be sure to invite your friends! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Pam Sharpe yogapam@bellsouth.net

PARKING LOT PARTY? SAY NO MORE!

Our Sunday School kickoff starts September 11. Children will move up to their school aged level classes in the morning where they will be greeted with refurbished classrooms! From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. we’ll be celebrating in the parking lot with hot dog dinners, games, and live music! Everyone is invited to come!

THEOLOGY ON TAP RETURNS

Theology on Tap, a popular men’s program here at Morningside, is back! We will meet Tuesday, September 13 at 7 p.m. Bill Means will host at the home of Pam and Ken Sharpe (1700 Timberland Road, Atlanta, 30345). Please note this is a schedule change. This is a schedule change from the first to the second Tuesday, for September only.
