WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church.

•  Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor is our preacher,

and Drew Stockstill, Associate Pastor, and

Anna Miles, intern, are our liturgists.

•  Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing

aids are available; ushers will gladly assist.

•  Please complete the information in the Friendship

Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads

down and back again during the Concerns portion

of worship.

•  Worship bags and books for children are in the

narthex and library. Nursery for infants/toddlers

is in Room 105; 2-3 year olds are in Room 012.

•  Children ages 3-10 are invited to exit to the

narthex after the Peace of Christ where their

teachers will take them to their classrooms.

Threes, Fours & fives are in Room 011; K-3rd

grades in Room 001; 4th-5th grades in

Room 005.

LGBT & FRIENDS

On Tuesday, March 8 from 7 to 9p.m. LGBT &

Friends will have a "Book of the Month Club" at the

home of Jack and Jill Klotz (424 Lindbergh Drive,

N.E.. Unit 211, Atlanta). Enter at second driveway

for guest parking. Walk across bridge and enter

front door code #7345. We look forward to discussing

the graphic novel, Fun Home: A Family

Tragicomic by Alison Bechdel, a fresh and brilliantly

told memoir from a cult favorite comic artist,

marked by gothic twists, a family funeral home,

self-discovery, and great books. For more info

of dinner, we ask for a contribution of $10 per person.

ALL-AGE CHURCH WIDE MISSION EVENT

On Sunday, March 13, MPC will kick off its all

age mission event by walking together at Atlanta’s

Hunger Walk. Folks are invited to wear their

walking/running clothes to worship, if they like.

Following worship we will make our way to

Turner Field’s Green Lot (755 Hank Aaron

Drive). Onsite registration begins at 12 noon. The

5K Fun Run commences, followed shortly thereafter

by the Walk. You can join the Morningside

Team (part of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta’s

team) by visiting www.acfb.org. Proceeds from

the walk will benefit the Atlanta Community Food

Bank and Intown Collaborative Ministries. For

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Morningside will begin its 17th home with Habitat

for Humanity soon. Along with five area churches,

we will build a home for Ms. Angela Banks and

her children. The build schedule is March 5, 12,

19, (skipping March 26 for Easter), April 2, 9,

and 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We welcome

all volunteers age 16 and up. To volunteer, go to

“TRANSFORMING CONFLICT” SERIES

Adult Faith Development class schedule:

•  March 6–Defining Conflict

Exploring our personal definitions of conflict.

God’s definition of conflict as seen in creation.

•  March 13–Restoring Relationships

God’s plans of reconciliation.

Introducing the concept of the Circle Process.

•  March 20–Transforming Conflict Daily

Practice of active listening/paraphrasing in Circles.

Introducing tools of conflict analysis for daily use.

 

INTOWN'S FOOD PANTRY

We are looking for volunteers to help staff the

food pantry of Intown Collaborative Ministries

on Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to

1:30 p.m. We will help hungry people in our

community by distributing food in the basement

of Druid Hills Methodist Church. Families are

welcome and kids (10 years old and up) can participate

with supervision. To volunteer, contact

INTOWN'S CLOTHING CLOSET

It's time for spring cleaning, and ICM is running

low on supplies at its Clothing Closet! They offer

interview, work, and casual clothing (for men

and women) and are located on the back side

of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church (1026 Ponce

de Leon Ave). Clothing donations can be

dropped off Mondays from 10:15 to 12:30 or by

appointment with our Clothing Closet Coordinator,

Rev. Allen at allen@intowncm.org.

 

NEEDED ITEMS INCLUDE: shirts, t-shirts,

pants (especially size 30 to 42), underwear

(especially size small and medium), white socks,

casual shoes, sweaters and hoodies, sweatshirts

and pants, winter hats and gloves, and jackets

and coats.

 

LGBT & FRIENDS:

Interested in volunteering with LGBT & Friends,

or fellow Morningside members? There are

community service opportunities currently available

with Habitat for Humanity as well as Intown

Collaborative Ministries throughout 2016. Please

THE ANNUAL RUNNING OF THE EGGS:

It’s not time yet… but it’s not too early to start

bringing in the eggs. It will take close to three

thousand eggs to pull off our much-beloved community-

wide Easter Egg Hunt the Saturday before

Easter, and we can’t do it without

you. Please begin bringing your pre-filled eggs

to church starting next Sunday (no peanuts). Specially

decorated receptacles will be waiting. Look

for the sign-up sheets and sign-up genius soon to

come! Even if you don’t have children, you

won’t want to miss this.

 

VBS

Morningside Presbyterian Church invites all children

to get ready to catch the wave of God's

amazing love at Surf Shack Vacation Bible

School! The fun begins Monday, June 13, and

ends Friday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at

Morningside Presbyterian Church. VBS is for

children in rising Pre-K who will be 4 by September

1, through rising 5th graders. Childcare

will be available for children of volunteers who

are younger than 4 years old. Adult and youth

volunteers (rising 6th grade and older) are needed!

Faith Development at Morningside

ADULT

We conclude our on-going study, “Welcoming the Stranger.” This class meets in Room 201 at 9:45 a.m. MPC Intern Sarah Smith and Drew Stockstill will facilitate Biblical and Historical Underpinnings of Welcoming Strangers.
