WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian Church.

•  Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor, is our preacher

and Drew Stockstill, Associate Pastor, and

Anna Miles, intern, are our liturgists.

•  Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing

aids are available; ushers will gladly assist.

•  Please complete the information in the Friendship

Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads

down and back again during the Concerns portion

of worship.

•  Worship bags and books for children are in the

narthex and library. Nursery for infants/toddlers

is in Room 105; 2-3 year olds are in Room 012.

•  Children ages 3-10 are invited to exit to the

narthex after the Peace of Christ where their

teachers will take them to their classrooms.

Threes, Fours & fives are in Room 011; K-3rd

grades in Room 001; 4th-5th grades in worship.

 

LGBT & FRIENDS

LGBT & Friends is excited to welcome the Rev.

Dr. Joanna Adams to our February meeting!

Please join us at the home of Kent Balch and Tony

Fishpaw (1368 Northview Avenue, Atlanta,

30306) this Tuesday, February 9, from 7 to

9 p.m. Joanna's theme will be "Dancing with the

Bear of Religion and Politics in America." To cover

the cost of dinner, we ask for a contribution of

SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER

Children's Ministry will host the Shrove Tuesday

Pancake Supper this February 9 in the Fellowship

Hall from 5:30-6:45 p.m. This is a fun event for

the preschool and the congregation. Children are

invited to wear their pajamas! There is no charge,

but we do ask for donations of children's pajamas

for Threads (an All Saint's Episcopal Church outreach

to serve and clothe children in the community).

A magician will entertain the kids! We need

volunteers to make pancakes and help with setup

and clean up. If you would like to RSVP and/or

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE

All are invited to join us for worship including the

imposition of ashes on Wednesday, February 10,

at 7 p.m.

 

JOURNEY MEN’S SHELTER FUNDRAISER

Start your Valentine’s Day Weekend by Rocking

to Rebuild Lives at Journey Men’s Shelter! This

Friday, February 12, at 7 p.m. you are invited to

join your friends at The Masquerade (695 North

Avenue NE) for live music from “The Vivid

Things.” One hundred percent of the $50 admission

price (includes food) will benefit the shelter.

Journey’s mission is to encourage, empower, and

establish men experiencing homelessness on their

journey to self-reliance through employment, education,

housing, and counseling services. Journey

has had a long-standing relationship with

Morningside Presbyterian Church.

 

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Morningside will begin its 17th home with Habitat

for Humanity soon. Along with five area churches,

we will build a home for Ms. Angela Banks and

her children. The build schedule is February 27,

March 5, 12, 19, (skipping March 26 for Easter),

April 2, 9, and 16 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

We welcome all volunteers age 16 and up. To volunteer,

MARK YOUR CALENDARS TO
CELEBRATE ANNA BEST

We will celebrate the retirement of our church

administrator, Anna Best, on March 6 in a congregational

lunch. Plan to be at this festive occasion

where we say “thanks” to Anna who has

served us so well and faithfully for seven years.

 

ALL-AGE CHURCH WIDE MISSION EVENT

On Sunday, March 13, MPC will kick off its all

age mission event by walking together at Atlanta’s

Hunger Walk. Folks are invited to wear

their walking/running clothes to worship, if

they like. Following worship we will make our

way to Turner Field’s Green Lot (755 Hank Aaron

Drive). Onsite registration begins at 12

noon. The 5K Fun Run commences, followed

shortly thereafter by the Walk. You can join the

Morningside Team (part of the Presbytery of

Greater Atlanta’s team) by following this link

and clicking “Join Team.” Proceeds from the

walk will benefit the Atlanta Community Food

Bank and Intown Collaborative Ministries. For

REBECCA’S TENT

We still need two volunteers for Saturday,

February 20, at the Rebecca’s Tent women's

shelter. The volunteers work from 6 to 8 p.m.

warming up and serving dinner. They also visit

with residents and clean up the kitchen. Men are

VBS

Morningside Presbyterian Church invites all

children to get ready to catch the wave of God's

amazing love at Surf Shack Vacation Bible

School! The fun begins Monday, June 13, and

ends Friday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at

Morningside Presbyterian Church. VBS is for

children in rising Pre-K who will be 4 by September

1, through rising 5th graders. Child care

will be available for children of volunteers who

are younger than 4 years old. A lot of adult and

youth volunteers are needed! Youth who are in

rising 6th grade and older are invited to volunteer!
