Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads

down and back again during the Concerns portion

of worship.

narthex and library. Nursery for infants/toddlers

is in Room 105; 2-3 year olds are in Room 012.

narthex after the Peace of Christ where their

teachers will take them to their classrooms.

Threes, Fours & fives are in Room 011; K-3rd

grades in Room 001; 4th-5th grades in

Room 005.

FLOWERS IN THE SANCTUARY

The flowers today are given to the glory of God

and in honor and celebration of Rev. Dr. Baron A.

Mullis’ five year anniversary of leadership at Morningside

Presbyterian Church by the 2010 Pastor

Nominating Committee.

SERVICE MUSIC

This morning’s music comes from the oldest

form of music singing in America - The Shape

Note Singing Tradition. While many of Sunday's

selections may not sound like their original beginnings,

all tunes come from this tradition spanning

from the 1700’s to the 1990’s. The Choral Offertory

“Emerald Stream” was written in 1991 by a

17-year-old Vermonter, Seth Houston. If you are

interested in learning more, a class on shape note

singing will be held Saturday, February 6 from 10

to noon in the Fellowship Hall. The event is free,

but please register by February 4. Send an email

to Jonathan Crutchfield jcrutchfield@morningsidepc.org.

Participants are asked to bring a vegetable or dessert

and stay for “dinner on the grounds” after the singing

is completed.

CLIFTON SANCTUARY MINISTRIES

Please join us in preparing and serving a meal to

the men of Clifton sanctuary ministries on Saturday,

January 23 at 5:30 p.m. Meal service usually

lasts an hour to an hour and a half and is a wonderful

opportunity to help in our community, as

well as meet and chat with the men about their

experiences. A sign up sheet is in the hallway outside

of the sanctuary, and if you have any questions

feel free to contact David Johnston at

617.233.2004 or dmjohnst@gmail.com.

IS GOD CALLING YOU TO JOIN MORNINGSIDE?

If so, the next opportunity will be February 7. We

offer two classes: an Inquirers’ Class which is basically

Presbyterianism 101 on January 31; followed by

a New Members’ class, when you join the church,

on February 7. You may come to either or both

classes. If God is calling you to unite with Morningside

Presbyterian, please e-mail or call Baron

Mullis baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org;

404.876.7396.

YOUR PRESENCE IS REQUESTED...

Plan to Remain After Worship

Sunday, January 31

for Morningside’s Annual Meeting

RETIREMENT CELEBRATION

After seven years of faithful service, Anna Best,

our office administrator, has indicated to Baron

that she will be retiring by March 1. While we

will miss her steady management of the church

office, we certainly celebrate her retirement

with her. Your Human Resources Committee

has already begun a process to identify her successor,

and you will hear more in the very near

future about plans to honor Anna's years of service.

In the meantime, please feel free to share

your well-wishes with Anna!

MPC SMALL GROUP SIGNUP

Morningside is facilitating the formation of small

groups to promote the discipleship of the congregation

through study of God’s word and how it

relates to our lives. The groups will be composed

of up to 12 people, will begin meeting in January,

and will generally meet every other week in the

home of one of the group members. The topical

content the group will encounter is largely

determined by the group members with available

support from the MPC discipleship committee.

For more information, please contact Peter Tuuk

petertuuk@gmail.com or Drew Stockstill

dstockstill@morningsidepc.org.
