FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY

The flowers today are given to the glory of God

and to commemorate the anniversary of Jan and

Ted McMahan who were married in this sanctuary

on December 2, 1969.

JOURNEY

Pick-a-Pan in the narthex for Journey Shelter today,

Sunday December 6. Please return your

pan filled with your delicious contribution to the

church kitchen Sunday morning, December 13.

Thanks to Sarah and Richard Brownlee for serving

the meal the evening of the 13th. If you

would like to join them at the shelter that evening,

please indicate your interest on the sign-up

sheet or contact shepherd Tamara Nix

tamaranix@alumni.duke.edu.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Children's worship bags are now available in the

narthex for any child to use while participating

in worship. These bags are filled with purposeful

activities for children to help keep their hands

busy and their ears open while they worship with

us. Children can also borrow books from the library.

Enjoy our worship bags, but please return

them when you're done!

LISTENING SESSIONS

In anticipation of new programming in Children's

Ministry, Sarah Kate and the Transition

Committee would like to hear from the congregation.

Please join us for a Listening Session tomorrow,

December 7, 7-8 p.m. in the Session

Room. Refreshments and childcare will be provided,

but please let us know you will be there

at sarahkate@morningsidepc.org.

COUPLES GROUP

All couples are invited to join in the fun at the

Antenucci’s home on Friday, December 11, for

our Christmas party (5420 Trentham Court,

Dunwoody 30338). This annual event is a favorite!

After attending, you will want to mark your

calendar for this group’s events in the New

Year: New Year Resolutions at the Princes’ on

January 8; Valentine’s Celebration at the

Bremers’ on February 12, and March 11 at the

Chatels’ new Morningside home. For more information

about this group and to RSVP for the

December gathering, contact Alan and Kathy

Bremer kdbremer@bellsouth.net.

SERVICE OF HEALING AND HOPE

The holidays are wonderful. They are warm and

festive. But for those experiencing bereavement,

job loss, the breakup of a loving relationship - the

holidays can be really a tough time. Morningside

will offer our traditional Service of Healing and

Hope on Sunday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m.

in the sanctuary. The darkness of the sanctuary

on this longest night of the year provides a comforting

place to receive prayers of healing and

hope and, for those who wish, the laying on of

hands by pastors, elders and deacons. If you are

in need of healing and hope this holiday season,

please come. If you can provide a warm presence

for those whose holidays are darker than they

wish, please come.

CAMPUS MINISTRY

Want an easy way to have fun and make a difference

in the life of really neat and mostly Presbyterian

Emory University students? Sign up to

take a meal to Emory's Presbyterian Campus

Ministry group. Stop by their hangout room and

drop off a simple meal to feed 8-10 co-eds (no

need to bring drinks, plates, or utensils) at 6:30

p.m. on Tuesdays. You're welcome to stay for

awhile and eat with them if you can! Follow this

link to access the meal schedule: http://

SHEARITH ISRAEL SHELTER

The women's shelter at Shearith Israel has a new

director - Tasho Wesley - and a new name -

Rebecca's Tent. The shelter has been an important

part of Morningside's Mission Program in

years past. Volunteers arrive at the shelter (1180

University Drive, 30306) at 6 p.m. to warm and

serve the meal to residents as they arrive from

work. Leftovers are prepared for lunches the

next day and put in the refrigerator, and the area

is cleaned up. We leave by 8 p.m. after visiting

with the residents. Men are welcome! We have

scheduled our volunteer dates - January 13-17

and February 17-21. Please sign up to volunteer

on the sheets on the mission bulletin board.

- Phyllis Grimes, Shepherd

MPC NURSERY

Our growing infant and toddler nursery at MPC

is in need of additional volunteers during the

worship hour on Sunday mornings. If you are

interested in this opportunity, please contact

Claire Burke at claireneal@hotmail.com for details.

Volunteers are asked to give of their time

on a quarterly basis. Adult and youth volunteers

are welcome.

INTOWN COLLABORATIVE MINISTRIES

Through the month of December, Morningside

will collect food for the ICM food pantry. We

have been asked to put together "food packs" to

give to families for their Christmas dinner side

dishes. Each pack should include stuffing mix,

green beans, fried onions, mushroom soup, cranberry

sauce, yams, and corn and should be

dropped off in the collection baskets or barrel in

the Welcome Center. Our goal is to provide

them with at least 10 packs. As the feasting season

approaches, we will continue collecting a

variety of non-perishable edibles for ICM with

the goal that no one in our community is hungry

for the holidays.
