WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY... Welcome to worship

at Morningside Presbyterian Church.

•  Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor will be our

preacher, and Anna Miles, intern, will be our

liturgist.

•  Large print hymnals and Bibles as well as hearing

aids are available; ushers will gladly assist.

•  Please complete the information in the Friendship

Pad at the end of the pews and pass the pads down

and back again during the Concerns portion of

worship.

•  Worship notebooks and books for children are in

the library. Nursery for infants and toddlers is in

Room 105; 2-3 year olds are in Room 012.

•  Children ages 3-10 are invited to exit to the narthex

after the Peace of Christ where their teachers

will take them to their classrooms. Threes,

Fours & fives are in Room 011; K-1st Grade in

Room 001; 2nd-3rd Grade in Room 003; 4th-5th

Grade in Room 005.

 

FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY

The flowers today are given to the glory of God in

loving memory of Scott Lee, brother of Will Lee

by Suzanne and Will Lee.

 

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Calvin John David Yntema, son of Esther Patrick and

David Yntema, will receive the sacrament of baptism

this morning.

 

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING

The Session has set a Congregational Meeting for

today, immediately following worship, for the

purpose of electing elders and deacons to the

Class of 2018.

 

JOURNEY

Thank you to the women of Lydia Circle who will

provide the meal to Journey Men's Shelter this

evening, November 8th. Please contact shepherd

Sunday in future months (always the second Sunday

of the month).

 

LGBT & FRIENDS

LGBT & Friends will meet this Tuesday, November

10, from 7 to 9 p.m. We will gather at the

home of Rob Payne and Steve Smith, (1100 Balmoral

Road, NE, 30319). This month's program is

"The Evolution of LGBT Characters in Film and

Television." Dinner will be provided (a $10 donation

towards the cost of the meal is suggested).

LISTENING SESSIONS

In anticipation of new programming in Children's

Ministry, Sarah Kate and the Transition Committee

would like an opportunity to hear from the

congregation. Please join us for a Listening Session

on one of three dates: November 11, 5:30-6:30

p.m. in Room 201; November 17, 9:15-10:15

a.m. in the Session Room; or December 7, 7-8

p.m. in the Session Room. Refreshments and

childcare will be provided at each session, but

please let us know you will be there at

sarahkate@morningsidepc.org.

 

FUN- RAISER SUPPORTS PRESCHOOL

All are welcome to buy a ticket and join in the fun

at Paris on Ponce Friday, November 13, at 7 p.m.

However, if you are also interested in bidding on

items, you can do so on-line before and during the

evening. There is a fabulous selection of items to

COUPLES GROUP

The Couples Group invite you to join them at

Mary Mac’s Restaurant on Friday, November 13,

7 p.m. The hosts will be Phyllis Grimes and

Katie Davis. Famous for Southern cooking traditions,

-together December 11 at the Antenuccis’; New

IT’S A PARTY! MORNINGSIDE MINGLE

Mix and mingle, get to know our newest members

at this adults-only party on Saturday, November

RHO READERS

The final meeting before winter break will venture

into science fiction with the novel Station

Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Drop in to

join us in the Session Room on Sunday, November

15, at 12:30 p.m.

 

HANDBELL CHOIR

Morningside's Handbell Choir will play Christmas

carols and favorites at the Atlantic Station

Christmas Tree Lighting (main stage adjacent to

Christmas tree) on Saturday, November 21,

from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Come show your support

and join the fun.

 

UPCOMING SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS—
‘HOPE, PEACE, JOY, LOVE’

“Illuminating Advent: Bringing Christ’s Hope,

Peace, Joy and Love Into Our Lives” will be a six

-week series that also has a service component

for our adult Faith Development group meeting

in Room 201 at 9:45 a.m. Sundays beginning

November 22. For their Advent service project,

the class will lead the congregation in a clothing

drive. The donations of men's and women's

clothing will be given to the ICM clothes closet

and Rebecca's Tent.

 

WOMEN’S ROUNDTABLE

Cindy Humphries will lead a discussion on ways

we can all enrich our celebration of Christmas,

both spiritually and practically. MPC women as

well as friends are invited for dinner and social

conversation on Monday, November 30 at

6:30 p.m. at the home of Lynn Young (277 The

Prado, 30309). Our Women’s Roundtable invites

you to share holiday memories and traditions,

and prepare for the season of Advent.

RHINO

Please pray for a safe return home of our RHINO

supporters who have been working very hard this

week to help the people of New Orleans undo

Hurricane Katrina damage. After Sunday worship

this morning at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian

Church they will head home to Atlanta. Volunteers

Faith Development at Morningside

ADULT... Next Sunday, November 15 the class will continue a series on idolatry led by Dr. George Stroup, Emeritus Professor of Theology at Columbia Theological Seminary. This class will meet in Room 201 at 9:45 a.m.

CHILDREN... This morning, preschool children hear about the time when God chose Moses to lead God's people in a story about the "Burning Bush."
