WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian

Church. Josh Stanley, Ministry Intern, will be our

preacher, and Baron Mullis, Senior Pastor, will

be our liturgist. Please complete the information in

the Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass

the pads down and back again during the Concerns

portion of worship. Worship notebooks and books

for children are in the library. Nursery for infants

and toddlers is in Room 105; 2-3 year olds are in

Room 012. Children ages 2-10 are invited to leave

after the Peace of Christ for special classes: Fours

and fives in Room 011; K-3rd grade in Room 001;

4th-5th grade in worship.

SERVICE MUSIC

"Christ lag in Todes Banden" ("Christ lay in the

bonds of death") is a chorale written by Martin Luther

and was published in 1524. Shortly after, it was

published with a traditional Eastertide melody. The

title and first line are sometimes rendered Christ lag

in Todesbanden. This seven-verse chorale references

the struggle between life and death, ultimately celebrating

the Resurrection of Christ. We hear this in

Bach’s setting. As the tune ascends, the pedal descends

with fast sixteenth note runs.

FLOWERS THIS SUNDAY

The flowers today are given to the glory of God by
