WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
Welcome to worship at Morningside Presbyterian
Church. Please complete the information in the
Friendship Pad at the end of the pews and pass the
pads down and back again during the Concerns
portion of worship. Worship notebooks and books
for children are located in the library. Nursery for
infants and toddlers is in Room 105; 2 year olds are
in Room 012. Children ages 3-10 are invited to
leave after the Peace of Christ for special classes:
Threes, fours, and fives-Room 011; K-1st grade in
Room 001; 2nd-3rd grade in Room 003; 4th-5th
grade in Room 005.

SANCTUARY FLOWERS
The flowers in the sanctuary are given to the glory
of God and in celebration and honor of Trenton
Tunnell III’s birthday by his brothers with love
from his family.

SERVICE MUSIC
Adagio, from Symphony No. 5 - Of course we all
know Charles Marie Widor for his single hit Toccata
from his 5th symphony. While it is a famous
piece, Widor wrote 10 fabulous symphonies in total,
all consisting of several movements. The
Adagio occurs in Symphony No. 5 just before the
Toccata would be played. Imagine the drama of
this sweet choral-like tune heard just before his
roaring Toccata. This piece is played on the foundation
stops, consisting of 8’ pitch, with the tune
heard in the pedal at 4’ pitch.

INSTALLATION OF DREW STOCKSTILL
On September 28, Morningside will join with representatives
of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta
to install Drew Stockstill to the office of Associate
Pastor at MPC. This special service will take place
at the 11 a.m. service of worship with Dana
Hughes preaching. A reception will follow.

OUR CHILDREN IN WORSHIP
You have noticed that our elementary age children
return to worship during the offering. We are
strengthening our children offerings by providing
them an opportunity to participate in more worship
time while having their own age appropriate
children's worship. By returning during the offering,
they participate by presenting their offerings,
and they can be present with their families on
Communion Sundays.

THURSDAY THEOLOGY
Engage with a small but lively group of members
hashing out theological terms with Baron in his office
this Thursday, September 18, at 12:30 p.m.
You’re welcome to bring a lunch.

BRING YOUR ELECTRONICS TO CHURCH DAY
A good amount of work has gone into designing
the membership section of our website to make it
a secure and useful tool, but not everyone understands
how to use it and how powerfully it can
connect us. So everyone is invited to a hands-on
tutorial after worship in Fellowship Hall on Sunday,
September 21. Demonstrations by our members
will be set up around the room, and if you
bring your own laptop or tablet, guides will help
you enter your own information.

NEW MEMBER OPPORTUNITY
If you have thought about joining Morningside
church, we will have a New Members’ Class next
Sunday, September 21 at 9:45 a.m. in the Session
Room. If you would like to attend, please get in
touch with Baron Mullis baron.mullis@morningsidepc.org.

OFFICER NOMINATING COMMITTEE
It's time to nominate Elders for the Session, Deacons
for the Board of Deacons. On Sundays September
14, 21 and 28, nomination forms will be in
the bulletin, the Narthex and the Welcome Center.
This is your opportunity to nominate someone to
be a candidate for office. Please prayerfully consider
your nominee(s) then ask their permission before
you submit their name for consideration to the Officer
Nominating Committee. You can turn in
nomination forms to the church office, place them
in the offering plate or put them in one of the boxes
in the Narthex and Welcome Center. The Officer
Nominating Committee will announce the final
slate of officers at a Congregational Meeting on
Sunday, October 12 when actual elections will take
place.

Christian Education at Morningside

ADULT CLASSES…

Join us in one of the two different groups meeting from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Sunday through September 28. The class topic in Room 107 is The First Christians and how we wrestle with many of the same issues today. Dr. Carol Senf leads a discussion of The Psalms in Room 201.

CHILDREN’S CLASSES…
The story of Adam and Eve introduces preschoolers to what happened when God added humans to creation. Elementary classes will continue their worship in Room 001 by reading Genesis 4:1-16, the story of Cain and Abel. Graded follow-up activities will focus on the idea that even when Cain made a terrible choice, God stayed with him.
