Exploring the Book
Sabbath as Resistance - Although it serves as the centerpiece of the Ten Commandments, the divine order to keep the Sabbath holy is almost certainly the one that we disobey most often. In the current four-week series (April 20-May 11), the Exploring the Book Class will survey the Old Testament passages concerning Sabbath, examine the theological and spiritual components of such a practice, and discuss ways in which we can honor this commandment even in the midst of our busy lives. Using the thought-provoking work of Old Testament Theologian Walter Brueggemann, we will gain new insights into how the ancient Jewish practices of Sabbath-keeping allow us to live more faithful and joyful lives. This class meets in Room 107 at 9:45 a.m. on Sundays and is taught by Associate Pastor Chris Henry.
