11 A.M. WORSHIP

THE GATHERING  Rev. Dr. Baron Mullis

Leader: The Lord be with you.

People: And also with you.

THE PRELUDE  Trumpet Tune in D  David Johnson

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: It is good to praise the Lord, and make music in God's name.

People: We proclaim God's love in the morning, and the faithfulness of the Lord at night.

Leader: The senseless do not know; the foolish do not understand...

People: How great are your works, O God! How profound are your thoughts!

Leader: Though evil springs up like grass, it is the Lord who will be exalted forever.

People: So let us worship God together in spirit and in truth. - Psalm 92

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 457  I Greet Thee, Who My Sure Redeemer Art  TOULON

Verses 1 through 4

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of power and mercy, we come before you knowing that you see us for who we are. In your wisdom and grace, you turned us loose on the world, giving us the responsibility to choose our path in life. We know you rejoice when we do as you do and love as you love. But when we think you're not looking, we take stupid risks, go where you tell us not to, break the things that are precious to you. Hear the prayers of our hearts, O God. Forgive us our prodigal selfishness. Guide us away from self-annihilation into the abundance of life. Welcome us, O heaven-ly father, back into your presence with all the love and grace you promise through your son, Jesus Christ and the witness of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: Blessed be God the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us through Christ with every spiritual blessing imaginable.

People: For God chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in his presence.

Leader: In love, we were predestined for adoption as children of God through Jesus Christ.

People: With wisdom and insight, God has made known to us his plan to gather all the world into his Beloved Community.

Leader: This is our inheritance from God our father:

People: We are forgiven and redeemed, to the glory of God. Amen. - Ephesians 1

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Hymn 457)

Our hope is in no other save in thee; our faith is built upon thy promise free; Lord, give us peace, and make us calm and sure, that in thy strength we evermore endure.

*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE

Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

People: And also with you.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
