THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Good and gracious God, we are creatures of dust, misunderstanding your life, death, and resurrection among us, needing forgiveness. We repent of our failure to give as you have given to us. We ask for your mercy for our fallen world. We seek your Word that we may live with the faith of Jesus. Be our solace in this life and always. We ask this as your own children, holy and incomplete. Forgive us and lead us. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: When we confess our sins, God is faithful.

People: The Lord hears our prayers. God’s promises are sure.

Leader: Friends, believe and trust in the good news.

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 354)

Stand by me while I run this race. Stand by me while I run this race. Stand by me while I run this race, for I don’t want to run this race in vain!

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
