THE PRELUDE  How Firm a Foundation  Jonathan Crutchfield

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever,

People: With my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations.

Leader: I declare that your steadfast love is established forever,

People: Your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens.

Leader: Let us worship the Lord our God. -Psalm 89:1-2

*THE OPENING HYMN 466  O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing  AZMON

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Gracious God, we confess there are times when faith is not easy. There are times when the claim of the Gospel upon our lives is costly. Forgive us when in our living we fail to do and be what you have called for from us. Forgive us when we cannot remember that it is you who have carried us through the years. And in forgiving us, give us encouragement that we may be strengthened in our faith and live out the calling you have given us. We pray all these things in Jesus’ name and for his sake, amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord;

People: “I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

Leader: He also adds,

People: “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

Leader: Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin. So believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! - Hebrews 10:16-18

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  Jesus Loves Me  JESUS LOVES ME

Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong. They are weak, but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me; yes, Jesus loves me; yes, Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.

*THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader: May the peace of Jesus Christ be with you all!

People: and also with you.

(The signs of the peace may be exchanged.)
