THE PRELUDE  Come Away to the Skies  arr. Wilbur Held

*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Gather us in,

People: the lost and the lonely, the broken and the breaking, the tired and the aching.

Leader: Gather us in,

People: the bright and the bustling, the done and the doubting, the wishing and the wondering.

Leader: Gather us in,

People: from near and far, here and now, within ourselves and beyond ourselves.

Leader: Gather us in, for we know that you alone offer peace and new life.

People: God of today and tomorrow, gather us in.

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 104  Christ Is Risen! Shout Hosanna!  HYMN TO JOY

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of new life, you are the God of second chances. You are the God of second chances, because you constantly invite us to be better- to do better, and yet we fail. You gave us this beautiful Earth to care for, and we are ruining it. You gave us one another to love, and yet we overlook each other’s pains. And you gave us your Son, raised from the dead, and yet our faith still is too weak to leave the graveside. Forgive us for all the times in which we fall short, failing to see you at work in our world, or failing to be the hands and feet you asked us to be. Grant us the strength to care, know, love, and see with eyes, arms, and a heart like yours. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: In the beginning, “God created humankind in God’s image, in the image of God, God created them; male and female God created them.”

People: And “God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good.”

Leader: Creation was very good, not because humanity was perfect or forever to exist without sin, but because we were made by the most gracious creator.

People: Through God we are created, and through Jesus Christ we are forever made new - redeemed and washed clean.

Leader: By the grace of God, we are given new life.

People: By the grace of God, we are free.

Leader: Thanks be to God. Amen. - *Inspired by Genesis 1, in honor of Earth Day (April 22nd)

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Hymn 113)

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won: Alleluia! Death in vain forbids him rise; Alleluia! Christ has opened paradise. Alleluia!

*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE

Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

People: And also with you.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
