THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God, we know that when we trust in you, our fears subside, our worries lessen, and you are pleased for us. We know that the stories of our faith are stories of your con-sistent goodness, constant faithfulness and never-ending love. All that we should believe tells us you are a God of infinite kindness. And yet, circumstances conspire to rob us of this assurance. Sometimes our lives teach us not to trust. Sometimes even the lessons we received in church cause us to fear you. Whatever our reasons, sometimes our trust is broken. Forgive us, we pray, and teach us once more to remember that you are good and that all that comes from you is meant for our good. Through Jesus Christ our savior we pray. Amen.

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

People: Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Leader: When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Colossians 3:1-4

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Hymn 76)

My song is love unknown, my Savior’s love to me, love to the loveless shown that they might lovely be. O who am I that for my sake my Lord should take frail flesh, and die?
