*THE CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Praise the LORD! Happy are those who fear the LORD, who greatly delight in God’s commandments.

People: Their descendants will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Leader: Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever.

People: They rise in the darkness as a light for the upright; they are gracious, merciful, and righteous.

Leader: It is well with those who deal generously and lend, who conduct their affairs with justice.

People: For the righteous will never be moved; they will be remembered forever.

All: Let us worship the Triune God, who creates, redeems and sustains us all.

-Psalm 112:1-6

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 442  The Church’s One Foundation  AURELIA

Verses 1, 2 and 3

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, you are from everlasting to everlasting. You, the creator of heaven and earth extend from the furthest reaches of the universe to the depths of Sheol. Yet in our limited minds, we blur the lines between creator and creation and think that we are the authors of our own blessings. But you alone are eternal, you alone are the source of all life and all good. It is you who called us into the way of life marked by your ways and your image. We are chastened and we ask forgiveness. Remind us that we are made in your image; indeed that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Remind us the commitment you would have us bring, through Jesus the Christ we pray, amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: I appeal to you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

People: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! -Romans 12:1-2

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 442)

Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace forevermore; till with the vision glorious her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest.

*THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

People: And also with you.
