People: Let us worship God: Creator, Christ and Holy Spirit.

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 473  For the Beauty of the Earth  DIX

THE CALL TO CONFESSION  Lauren Fairleigh

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, our creator and sustainer, once more we confess to you, our redeemer, that we have sinned. Of the good news entrusted to our care, we have spoken only a little. Of the actions called for by discipleship, we have undertaken only a few. The changes you hope for us remain incomplete. Were your children dependent entirely upon our actions to know your loving care, they would know very little indeed. We have sinned and fallen short of your dreams for the fullness of our lives. So forgive us, we pray, and recreate us as followers of the risen Christ, on whom we have cast our trust. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON  Libby Jern

Leader: I appeal to you, therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

People: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God – what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Romans 12:1-2

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
