People: We have come to worship God, our creator, redeemer and sustainer.

–Psalm 34:1-5

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 442  The Church’s One Foundation  AURELIA

(Verses 1, 2, and 5)

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God, you have loved us from generation to generation. You have shown your faithfulness more often than we can recall. The stories of the Bible tell us as often as we will look of your steadfast mercy. Yet we live as though it would be better for us not to know. We live holding on to past hurts; we are not open to your new creation. We prefer the safety of what we know to the excitement of discipleship. Forgive us, we pray, and make us again as you would have us be. We make all of our prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE  (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: By grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing: it is the gift of God-not the result of works, so that no one might boast.

People: For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand to be our way of life.

Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Ephesians 2:8-10

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  Hymn 514

Christ is able to make us one, at the table he sets the tone, teaching people to live to bless, love in word and in deed express. Jesus lives again, earth can breathe again, pass the Word around: loaves abound! Jesus lives again, earth can breathe again, pass the Word around: loaves abound!

*THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

People: And also with you.

O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands: serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with a song. O go your way into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise. Be thankful unto him, and speak good of his name. For the Lord is gracious, his mercy is everlasting. And his truth endureth from generation to generation. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be: world without end, Amen.
