THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Eternal God, on our best days we are still sinners. We still take more than we need. We still hold more than we ought; we still live mostly for ourselves. We have fallen short of loving God and loving our neighbors. We are not malicious, Lord, only complacent. But you are not a God of excuses and qualifiers. Forgive our complacency and inaction. Forgive our failures and misdeeds. Have mercy on us and make us whole. Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE  (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord;

People: ‘I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.’

Leader: He also adds,

People: ‘I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.’

Leader: Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.” So believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! -Hebrews 10:16-18

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE  (Number 576)

Gloria, gloria, in excelsis Deo. Gloria, gloria, alleluia, alleluia!

Gloria, gloria, in excelsis Deo. Gloria, gloria, alleluia, alleluia!
