People: For God satisfies the thirsty, and fills the hungry with good things.

Leader: Let those who are wise give heed to these things, and consider the steadfast love of the LORD.

*THE PROCESSIONAL HYMN 555  Now Thank We All Our God  NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT

THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, you have opened our eyes to the abundance of goodness in your creation. You have created such beauty. You have given our lives meaning by including us in your mission of healing in the world. You have given us peace through your unending grace. You have given us all we need to flourish. Yet we struggle to understand these gifts are from your hand. We struggle with greed. We struggle with worry about not having all we want. We struggle with fear that makes us put concerns before our discipleship. Thank you for forgiving us these sins. Grant us wisdom. Grant us courage for the facing of this hour. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

People: Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Leader: When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory. Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Colossians 3:1-4

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Number 576)

Gloria, gloria, in excelsis Deo. Gloria, gloria, alleluia, alleluia!

Gloria, gloria, in excelsis Deo. Gloria, gloria, alleluia, alleluia!

*THE PEACE OF CHRIST

Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

People: And also with you.

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, Praise Him, for He is thy strength and salvation! All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near: Join me in glad adoration! Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee. Ponder anew what the Almighty can do, if with His love He befriend thee. Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him! Alleluia! All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him. Let the Amen sound from His people again: Gladly for aye we adore Him! (text: Joachim Neander)

THE APOSTLES’ CREED

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead, I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE PASTORAL PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
