THE CALL TO CONFESSION

THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Holy God, we know that we may rest in the promises of our baptism – we know that your grace rests on us this day and every day. Never for a moment are we outside of your constant care. And yet, things happen. Life tumbles in and your promises seem distant. We retreat into fear. We worry about what we cannot change. Forgive our anxious fears. Lead us to be the people you created us to be, disciples of Jesus Christ, in whose name we name our prayers. Amen.

A MOMENT OF SILENCE (for examination of conscience and personal prayers of confession)

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Leader: The grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright and Godly, while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and savior, Jesus Christ.

People: He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.

Leader: Believe the promise of the Gospel:

People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen. - Titus 2:11-14

*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 371)

Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name. So shall our song of triumph ever be: Praise to the crucified for victory. Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim till all the world adore his sacred name.

THE ANTHEM  Be Thou My Vision  arr. Alice Parker

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart; nought be all else to me, save that thou art. Thou my best thought by day or by night, waking or sleeping, thy presence my light. Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word; I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord; thou my great Father, I thy true son; thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one. Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise, thou mine inheritance, now and always: thou and thou only, first in my heart, high king of heaven, my treasure thou art. High king of heaven, my victory won, may I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, still be my vision, O ruler of all.

For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory now and forever. Amen.
